• Except NELA TICKET, I have seen RAJA THE GREAT and TOUCH CHESI CHUDU which are quite entertaining and good. But AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY makes up for the flaws which those movies had. It's neither weak in terms of CGI nor stretched longer than expected. Ravi Teja's new action entertainer combines cool action, comedy, drama and suspense in a great proportion. It's not perfect but kept me glued from beginning to the end without a single dull/boring moment.

Ravi Teja shines in every character he portrays, with enough excellence to view those characters separately. Ileana is also quite decent and not just another heroine who has nothing to do except romancing the hero. She also shines in a few action scenes. Sayaji Shinde gives a heartwarming performance and you'll love his character. The villains are decent. Much of the supporting cast is filled with comedians and they succeed in tickling your funny bone.

Visually this is a grand film as it's entirely set in the US. Cinematography, thus, deserves a special mention for capturing some of the best locations if not all. The action sequences are stylish as cool guns, telescopic sights, baseball bats and other stylish weapons come into play. While not actually being a thriller, the film has some unexpected suspenseful moments which are worth an applause.

The music is good, despite of censorship having hit one of the songs I had been listening on stereo since quite a time. The best part is that they're not forced without a reason, and that the film luckily stay away from romance. There are a few such scenes and one song, but they feel more like family drama moments than romance and that's amazing. Editing is also decent.

What's a little disappointing is that too much weightage has been given to the comedic aspects. It's mainly an action movie, but the comedic parts at times sideline the main plot and that's not really good. The basic story is about revenge and has quite serious moments, but these comedic moments, while providing relief from them, also end up diluting the overall impact to quite an extent.

But due to its decent cerebral concept and overall execution, AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY feels better and fresher than many movies.
