Might have been better than some of the bookend episodes without Jessica. Some of them worked decently but the one off ones with one time detectives seldom worked.
They should have just had a rotating system instead like the NBC Sunday Mystery series did.
The worst part about this particular episode is it's supposed to be the narration by Jessica of one of her books. I really hope this was just a rare bad one because if it's not I would be puzzled by her ongoing success. I would rather read Sybil Reed's book ( From The Sins of Castle Cove episode) . I would prefer that episode to be more typical of Jess's writing.
