  • The story was good but colour in the animation wasn't good... I like the forest part of animation that was very beautiful.

Love the girl face and expression.. Pil adventure 2 waiting for that... Make sure your colour is more vibrant..
  • This is a very good looking movie, with some great backgrounds and character design. A lot of time and money was spent making a very pretty piece of animation

There's a few times where the scenes play out really well, but herein lies the problem.

The timing is just a little bit off in the whole film. Whether it is the jokes just not landing, or the action scenes just being a little flat, everything just seems a bit off.

The movie suffers as a whole, and the poor timing just makes the whole experience a bit boring.

It had substance, grit and staying power, enough to interest me all the way to the end. Not bad at all.

I have seen so much worse. This film is well worth considering, in my opinion.

"Pil" is a fairly conventional animated film, its script does not present a novel story and it is full of clichéd scenes looking for an easy laugh. The animation of the landscapes is good but the characters look very forced in their movements. A typical movie with a couple of nice scenes.

The title said it all. I fell asleep halfway through the movie.

*I only had a few laughs with the jokes of the weird sock-puppet, about the lords and all. They were quite funny or at least enjoyable, haha.

*Bad animation, very wonky walk-cycle, and it looks like it's a movie made in the early 2010s.

*Bad characters, they're dumb. Dialogues doesn't help. Why does the main character have that haircut ? It's not for my taste. And the prince.. He looks like an ugly grown-up baby, like a clone of Mark Zuckerberg, what the what ?! At least the evil-guy looks like an evil-guy.

*The main story is basic. Nothing bad with that, but nothing new either.

Sure, i'm not a kid, and the movie clearly is made for kids. But even if i was, i would still say that the movie was uninteresting and boring. I'd leave the TV room and play with my Legos.

Anyway, the movie isn't awful, but it's flat, boring and not really fun.
  • I watched this with my 3 and 5 year old at the movies and there is only the one scene which was pretty scary for them but overall it was funny, had a decent story line, and we all enjoyed it. I recommend this as a good family watch.
  • Watched with my daughter. Only redeeming quality beyond the 2005ish animation was that it ended. Poorly thought out characters, a plot that was so boring my 8 year old yawned, and writing so bad that I wish it was in original French so I couldn't understand it. So I guess you could say I very disappointed. I was expecting something akin to how to train your dragon, but it wasn't even that dumb. The action was surf like, the characters were like book come to life, but not a good work of literature. Imagine instead something inspired like stereo instructions trying to be funny and witty against a nails on the chalkboard plot.

I really loved this movie and so did my 7 and 12 year old kids. Without adding spoilers I'll just say that the story is cute and the pacing is also perfect with never a boring moment. The dark and evil parts are also not scary. Instead they turned those into something funny. I'm thoroughly entertained and full marks from me. 10/10.
  • French animation movie , with a plot based in a village in the dark ages, with themes and incisions of inspiration from loads of other feature animations, even though living its own brilliant life and story, with some generic caracters that the squemish adult will call childish and childrens tv like, but nope, this has some exquisit animation and such a sharp edited product that you shouldnt let this pass at any means...

a good laugh, top notch animation and a big recommend from the grumpy old man and missus, for everyone above age 4.
