  • Kaçis was a very hyped project because of its original plot and production value. Well, let me tell you beforehand, it has originality and good production but unfortunately that is all.

Premise is strong. A war photographer finds himself trapped in a small village surrounded by radical terrorists who also hold his photographer friends that he came along. Cinematography is another strong aspect as well as a decent production budget spent on locations, costumes, sets...

Acting is average but this is mainly because of bad screenwriting. Protagonist makes the worst possible, and possibly the most illogical choices. This makes audience feel like nothing is natural and beats, incidents of the story are pushed by consistently wrong and brainless choices of characters.

Another big flaw is editing and music. There are 10 cuts in every 30 seconds. You don't have to cut to different wide or drone shots or every characters reaction during intense scenes. Music editing choices are not professional as well.

I give it a 5/10 for the sake of production and original concept and story created by talented Engin Akyurek.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The overall storyline feels a bit slow. The scenario is mediocre, but it could have been much stronger and better. In some places, the writer's laziness is felt in the script. The story has small logical flaws, but the number of flaws is large.

The action scenes of the series are too slow and can not convey the feeling of fear and stress of an action scene. Some actors can not convey the fear and horror atmosphere of the series well to the viewer (it feels like the sequences have not been tried much and are not of acceptable quality) In general, the series was weaker than expected and unfortunately did not turn out to be an amazing and quality work.
  • Really impressive first episode, packed with lot of action, excellent acting, you are at the edge of your seat waiting for the next scene and of course for the next episode.

    Highly recommended.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Total plot of the first episode should be built on at least 3 episodes. This is too obvious that Disney pushed a lot to catch launch date, there are so many details ignored. It is like someone is pushing skip scene button while you are watching. Plot has horror and thriller elements which they didn't use.

There is no character building for Mehmet. Why he can't find the job he deserved nobody knows, what kind of story he found then decided to pass terrorist controlled region? Experienced war photographer knows what to wear if he goes to warzone, not 140 USD worth jacket. At terrorist control point, there are too much fog, like a cemetary scene from horror movie. Too much silhouettes, but thanks to unskilled lighting they are very visible. Normally I would say that poor camera which he extend his arm for use it to take pictures of control point is not capable of capture anything in such darkness, but with the help of too much light around... When it comes to war photographer's pro camera... it is his life but silly enough to forget sd cards? Climbing high ground to capture village with tele lens? That lens has good enough zoom capability but when he watches through it, he sees wide angle? Bullet hits to lens from directly front and nothing happens to body of camera?

Prisoners are not terrified, or acting is poorly delivered. Wrong description of locations, scene continuity errors, moving dead people, just from the mistakes and errors of this episode you can make full hour documentary. This is Disney + local content at Turkiye launch, seems like a last minute decision. Definitely sorry for the papers used to paint entire city with the posters of this series. Please Disney do not release anymore episodes, so we can forgive you.
  • I just watched the first episode of Kacis and I'm extremely pleased by the quality of it. The music is simply amazing and adequate to the ambiance of the story. The cast as a whole is very good but Engin Akyürek takes the prize. Waiting for the second episode already! A very deep and harsh story that needs to be told! We simply don't talk enough about the difficulties, struggles and dangers that war correspondents go through everyday at their jobs. A very interesting and important topic packed with action and suspense.

    Good luck and excellent job!
  • The first episode should capture the attention and open up the great story to unfold but... though it is quite an interesting plot, the acting is quite poor, dialogues and soundtrack are really not helpful. It feels like a dream, not a real story. Everybody is tense and acts the same way. The story has potential but it is carried on through poor means of expression. Bad guys are bad but we know nothing about them except that they are bad (and stupid). The good gays are good and scared. Nothing more about them. They talk to each other about what is obvious. It is a classic script failure - talking about what we already see. There is tension but... just intense tension that after a while creates only a sense of tiredness. It is already pretty obvious what is going to happen but... who knows, maybe we might be surprised.
  • I just finished watching the first episode of Kacis. I had big expectations, and I have to say - the first episode was even better than I expected. Great story, topic that is important for the whole humanity, quality work, amazing acting (especially Engin Akyurek).

I can't wait for the next episodes!
  • A core asset screenplay motive of tragedy of Yazidi Women is anchored for a nicely regional marketing attempt. Perplexed with anachronic mines. A fertile production for the leading best-paid cast! An irony of an Oil & Gas giants Turkish commercial advertisement face! I am disappointed with the Lesseter Schools short sight for talent sourcing and scooting. Nevertheless cinematography (a.k.a. Photo Directing) along with literature thru lights is marvelous (Sound is also achieved Disney qualifications)! Maybe I over expected but a financial robust should be more creative, innovative and genius for this very fertile onlookers youngsters market! I still hold my wish for rewarding spark of surprise debuts and significant genuine productions! As said among Turks: You already have sugar, butter and.semolina? Well go ahead and make that 'Halwa'!
  • Dönüs York: Chapter 1. At first I thought it was very good, it shows us a reality that many of us only see through the news. The images and sound are combined very well generating a great impact. Very good the performances of all, as well as the costumes, the photographs and the locations. In my opinion, I have observed that interior and night scenes they look too dark, which deprives the viewer of a good vision. Engine Akyürek's performance is excellent! I am pleasantly surprised to see him in this new role.

I hope the 2nd chapter is the same or better!

Normally I dislike war films, and avoid them but Escape nailed me before the screen! It is more about the human beings and the human nature in the war than about the war itself. Highly recommend it!

    10/10
    Amazing
It is one of the most impressive series that I have ever seen. I couldn't understand bad comments. Is it the indisputable truth that bothers you? It shows the darkness of the Middle East successfully. I cannot say anything bad about it.

    Warning: Spoilers
I would like to dedicate Kaçis to the memory of two Spanish war correspondents, José Couso and Julio Anguita who were killed in Iraq (2003) while doing their job reporting from the front line. Hypocritically we have become the audience of wars sitting comfortably on the sofa in our homes.

This series has touched my heart deeply.
  • The Kaçis is so amazingly portrayed that I don't know how to explain, but I'm literally shaking. But when I think of the people living in those conditions, I can't explain that feeling , Engin Akyürek did a great job like always , bravo, I'm still under effect , I'm so proud he choose this topic. Actually I realize that we live under our comfort zone and litterally unaware that a different scary world exists. Well done man, it's really nice and impressive , waiting impatiently for the upcoming episodes . Its a must watch.

This series shows us an uncomfortable reality and refreshes our memory of real events that we have forgotten.

Direction, music, script, photography, performance... everything is in the hands of first class professionals.

    Recommended.
  • Engin Akyurek another Masterpiece🔥the first episode is wonderful and i am extremely pleased and the quality is very nice and the acting of all group is very good and real so good job and i am waiting for the next chapter .
  • I started the first chapter with prejudice. It was not like the Turkish series I thought. I'm just saying that because I'm tired of the dramas with love. Frankly, I'm very glad that a dark theme is used. Feel the Thriller. The noir plans were very good. I'm looking forward to the next episodes.

The part I'm going to criticize is that I don't find the acting a bit bad.

    Have a nice watch.

  • Such a good show! The best Disney+ original series that I've seen since so far! Amazing actors, photography and music! Really good first episode and looking forward to the next one! Engin Akyürek and Irem Helvacioglu are simply outstanding. The whole story revolves around a very delicate topic and so far they've done a terrific job at explaining and showing every detail!

    kacis
    A new idea .

    A new life .

    A new society .

We are watching a new elements with new mind .

The director is very clever man .

Engin Akyurek is a very smart actor and also a clever actor.
  • Very good beginning for a story that tells us about something more than an armed conflict.

I think it's about looking for the human side of the nonsense of extreme violence. He tells us about someone who wants to show the pure reality, no matter how harsh it may be.

Congratulate the team for a first chapter, which manages to catch you and want to continue seeing more.

The talent of Engin Akyürek brings us a great plot, an intense and hard script. And his acting is really extraordinary.

To mention some detail that needs to be improved, it had some problems with lighting in the first few minutes, where you could hardly see anything on the screen.

For the rest, waiting for the next chapter. Totally recommended.
  • The series it's amazing personally i would never sit and watch this kind of series I don't like movies or series about the war but I'm so glad that Engin made me sit and watch because i learned so many things that I didn't know so thank you my Engin gor 1 more lesson you always make us better you help us become more sensitive just like you that's why you chosen this story to share it with us it's a very high quality job and everything about it it's perfect from the cast to the director the music everything that's why for me it's a masterpiece i totally recommend it.
  • We know that this kind of situation still exists in some countries but being able to see it performed by these talented actors awakens a feeling of empathy towards those who have suffered. Thanks to the excellent performance of Engin Akyürek and the rest of those who have made Kaçis possible.
