Monica (Mon) Boland met her husband Josh just after he joined the FBI. She was working as a bartender at Krowchuk's, to help pay her way through school at Boston College. Later they married, and Mon went on to a career as a superb accountant. But Josh was killed in a dangerous mission, and Mon must now go undercover while working close with Isaac, Josh's boss at the FBI and the best man at her wedding.
Mon's undercover assignment is to penetrate the tough Irish crime syndicate headed by Collin Murphy. Mon returns to her bartending roots by taking a job alongside Gemma, another bartender who, it turns out, had slept with Josh during his sting operation. In conversation with Gemma, Mon admits to now going on a "drunken booty call" in which she spent the night with Collin's right-hand man Aiden. Mon confesses to having "real feelings" for Aiden, whom she believes is a decent person who would be better suited for selling life insurance than shilling for Collin. The fact remains that both Josh and Mon felt compelled to sleep their way as a loyal G-Man and G-woman.
Suspense is maintained in the film due to a mole who has penetrated the FBI and is funneling information to Collin in return for money. Is Mon's friend Isaac too smooth, and might he be the mole? The other FBI officials with knowledge of Mon's movements are SA Teressa Lidiard and the sleazy internal affairs officer, SA Dueck. The question is who set up Josh and is now fingering Mon for the fall?
While the romantic connection between Mon and Aiden was a little difficult to believe, the actress playing Mon still gave an extremely credible performance as the accounting wizard. And, she could also make a mean margarita!!!
