  • I had high hopes for this because I did enjoy the website but this show is poorly done. The jokes aren't very funny, the news people aren't funny, sometimes the show is just annoying in how it tries to make us laugh.
  • I really wanted to like this show. I enjoy the Beaverton website, and I was very much hoping that the show would be as good, but after waiting a whole season for it to improve I finally had to give up on it. The jokes are very hit and miss, and the tone of the show is defined(?) by randomly shitting on people and subjects without any unifying theme. Sometimes the sketches seem to be recycled American memes rather than original material. I always switch channels when The Beaverton comes on now, because I know that the few laughs I might experience won't be worth the disappointment.
  • I like the website The Beaverton but this show is so wooden and poorly written and poorly performed and just plain cheap looking and dull I just can't make myself watch any more of it. I gave it many chances. The laugh track they stuck in was like it was done on somebody's laptop while they ran on a treadmill at the gym. The jokes are bad then there were explosions of laughter than stopped all of a sudden. Maybe that was supposed to be part of the joke but what I saw was just plain bad. I would give it a 1 but I like the online Beaverton so much I will bump it up. The hosts are likable but they have nothing to work with here, just really bad jokes.
  • It's no This Hour Has 22 Minutes or Rick Mercer Report, but for what started off as a university online Canadian news satire publication, this is great as far as Canadian content goes. Wannabe critics need to ease up on all the 1's and 2's... this show is funny and entertaining! A well deserved 8/10 from me. And if anyone thinks my review is fake, click on my username to see my 1000+ ratings and 600+ reviews, and read my bio on how to properly review on IMDb... you wannabe critics.
  • Another in a long line of completely unfunny Canadian sketch-slash-variety comedy series. This show is a complete car wreck of terrible writing, awful-slash-hammy performances and just plain shoddy production. The laugh track was pitifully amateurish, it looked like amateur hour and was pathetic start to finish. It's a shame because an actually funny Canadian news comedy should was there to be had and could have been great.
  • I appreciate that the Beaverton tackles political issues in a smart way, some episodes are absolute gems though others tend to fall into borderline slapstick humour. It seems they lost some correspondents after the network change, but I hope they get a 4th season because this show is definitely worth watching!
  • The humour is simplistic, adolescent, and insulting to one's intelligence. There is absolutely no wit involved in the writing of this program. It is about as deep as Beavis and Butthead! How does a show like this even make it to the air?
  • Well written and absolutely hilarious! Our politicians are a joke as well as some of the ridiculous junk they call news. This show is a great satire of it all.
  • This show is. Worst comedic actors. Worst comedic writing. Humber Comedy Program continues to destroy comedy in Canada by giving each other reach arounds. Learn something about satire, spoof, etc etc. And, when doing comedy- ESPECIALLY on camera, never try to be funny- it makes you even worse actors than you are. When you go out and do comedy, stop wanking off in front of your friends and stacking your audience- go to where people don't know you- you'll find out that you're not very good.
  • This is quite literally one of the worst shows on television. Absolute terrible jokes with even worse delivery. Pathetic laugh track and pathetic actors. This show has no idea what it wants to do. It'trying to make fun of things, while also being politically correct, whilst also being sarcastic and also inform us. This show is a disgrace to our country comedy and should be canceled ASAP.
  • I really don't think I'll ever understand Canadian television networks... who runs them and what in the world are they thinking on any given day?

This country already has a lot of news comedy shows, these are shows that are all about making fun of the news and news broadcasts, but these shows all have jokes that are geared for the older set. Why they think they need This Hour Has 22 Minutes and also The Rick Mercer Report and also for a long time Royal Canadian Air Farce, is beyond me. Even when the Air Farce show for grandparents was finally put out of its misery they replaced it with still very news based comedy by the equally ancient Ron James Show. There were other news based comedy shows whose named I can't recall right now. Double Exposure, The Grind, uh...... more? Plus for I guess... reasons???... Royal Canadian Air Farce is still on the air at least once a year with their even more atrocious than they ever were before New Years Eve Specials, which I am 100% certain are written by a 90 year old man who has a stack of newspapers from 1987 and joke books from 1955. In case you haven't guessed these taxpayer funded non-comedies make me angry. I don't like paying for dreck that isn't funny and that is only meant for other old people.

So I was very optimistic about this show. I thought I'd seen all of them but according to this list there are 13 episodes, I have seen about 6 or 8. I thought finally, a show with jokes for people under 50 on Canadian T.V., finally a news comedy show in Canada like the Daily Show or Colbert Report or any of the others they do so well, with serious content and real actually funny jokes.

But no. My hopes were smashed like a ship against the rocks. Sure the show is younger but the jokes are just as bad. Even worse than that The Beaverton show is full of production errors. Including probably the worst laugh track that has ever been used in any show ever. The exact same sound of the same people exploding into laughter for no reason and then also without reason all immediately silenced, as if the entire laughing audience was all simultaneously hit over the head with a hammer.... which would actually be more fun to watch than this show.

The show has bad sound, bad lighting, cheap sets and bad acting. Forget acting, these people can't even deliver jokes well. Then again it's probably hard to deliver jokes this bad without vomiting anyway.

I follow The Beaverton magazine online. That Beaverton is like a Canadian version of The Onion and they actually have some funny and good articles. The difference between that and this box punch of a show was such a canyon that I assumed the comedy network just bought the rights to use the name and none of the same people were involved. Apparently that's not the case. So I have to wonder, why are people who are obviously funny writers such awful writers when it comes to writing for TV? Whose fault is this awful television show?

There! My first review was "don't watch, this is one of the worst shows on T.V." but apparently I needed ten more lines. I spent 17 minutes writing this review slamming a T.V. show begging you not to watch it for the sake of your own IQ and eyes.... which should make it clear how bad I think this show is.

At the end of the day I give this show 2 out of 10 because at least it's better than "Second Jen" which is so breathtakingly bad it makes me want to put a hand grenade in my mouth then pull the pin... which would be more fun to watch than that show. Even if I was holding a dozen puppies when I exploded. Whoever made the show "Second Jen" should be thrown into a mine shaft and then have the mine shaft filled with dog excrement, but first also burn and throw in all the tapes and scripts of "Second Jen".
  • In a sea of comedy news programs, this one is easily the very worst. Daily Show, Sam Bee, 22 Minutes, Bill Maher, the list goes on and is filled with many shows, all of which are a million times funnier and better done than this unfunny mess of a show.
  • I started watching in season 3 and this show is solid. Lots of good laughs at Canada's expense, and some enjoyable jabs at everyone else. So far every episode I've had some good belly laughs, and appreciate the many times the hosts are just barely keeping it together through the jokes while they are clearly trying to make the other crack. Overall the show is just a lot of fun, and I am confused at just how much hate it is getting.
  • The first couple seasons were shaky but it's really hit it's stride this year. Funny stuff.

Some reviews say you have to be Canadian. I am Canadian. It is bad. Really bad. It's poorly written. It's not biting satire. It's just childish.
  • Perfect satire that is current and 100% Canadian! The 2 hosts are hilarious and quite believable.
  • This show is an excellent satire of current events and really funny. I'm entirely agreeing with daniellekoehn's comment. This show is way better than the rating it has and here's my attempt to fix that.

Reviews on here are ridiculous. The show is able to cover current affairs in a satirical manner. Not really a family-friendly show. Humour is straight and to the point, and jokes are very subtle... So no this isn't like one of those After Dark comedy shows. Live studio audience in the show allows for an even better experience if you go watch it.

It's very much different than CBC shows 22 Minutes and RMR. This show has its own unique style. A very refreshing comedy production in the face of sub-par content on most television networks.
  • Honestly this is my favorite show on TV. Seriously, watch it. Why the hell does it have 3 stars?
  • Best way to stay sane, laugh and keep up to date with Canadian news
  • I had to write a review after seeing some of the incorrect reviews before this.

This is a great show, with smart and sharp jokes. It's more cutting and biting then any other Canadian and many American shows. Refreshing to see someone taking a position on important Canadian issues and saying what needs to be said with a hilarious twist.

ALSO the beaverton is filmed in front of a live audience each episode THERE IS NO LAUGH TRACK!!!! So annoying to see people commenting that, it filmed in Toronto last year and I went to a few episode tapings in front of a live studio audience which was a really fun experience.

Give the show a shot, you will be pleasantly surprised and get a great ab workout with all the laughing. Literally made me cry with laughter at points.

I can't wait for season two this fall!!!! highly recommend!

If you have a soft shell and the show makes fun of your political stance, then you might not like it and give it a 1 star rating. If you enjoy humour and sarcasm that is well thought out, then you will it.
  • The show is really made for a Canadian audience, with the budget you expect from the Canadian film industry. Low on effects and graphics, and the pacing takes some getting used to when compared to shows like The Daily Show or The Colbert Report that it emulates, but every episode manages to get laughs.

Funny, light hearted news show parody. Worth a watch

    Warning: Spoilers
This show reminds me of the OLD SNL (Saturday Night Live back when the likes of Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy were stalwarts there.

It's a show that makes subtle light of recent events. And yes, sometimes the joke misses. Some times it even ticks me off! But sometimes Eddie said things that were racist, vulgar and completely insensitive.

THESE ARE COMEDIANS. This show is not (and was never meant) to be taken seriously! We as a nation tend to be and appreciate subtle sarcasm. And if you've ever gone to see stand-up comedians in clubs, there are always jokes that are hit and miss, but good comedians just blow through the duds and more on, it's part of life on that circle.

I appreciate this sort of layered, intelligent sarcasm. But I'm also Canadian, so I can say that if some people don't like it, that's ok too! We still love and care about you, whomever you are. Have a great day!
