Make yourself sit through the first 15 minutes of this movie; they are pretty standard intro stuff: ditzy, scatty youngest sibling Alex (Sofia Carson), doing nothing with her life, alongside pleasant but feckless boyfriend, finds that her beloved mother's will leaves her nothing but a list of tasks to complete, while her siblings and their partners inherit everything she thought was potentially hers. She takes her ire out on the lawyer her mother engaged to be her executor, conservative lawyer Bradley (Kyle Allen).
Naturally, the rest of the movie is taken up with Alex' journey as she makes her way through the tasks on the list. As she completes each of them, she receives another vlog from her mother.
This was a much better than average "coming of age" or, if you like, "finding yourself" movie. I found it genuinely moving, and the performances from the leads were believable and engaging.
Netflix - stop making cheap stupid romcoms that are an insult to intelligence and make more like this please!
