Deepak (Jeetendra) is a truck driver. One day he meets with haughty, snobbish, and popular singer, Asha. He assists her with her travel and the two become friends. Deepak loves Mala, introduces her to him mom, and soon they are married. Mala has eye problems, and eventually loses her sight. While travelling, Deepak has an accident and his body is nowhere to be found. Deepak's mom blames a pregnant Mala for this bad luck, and throws her out of the house. Mala gives birth to a baby girl, and both live a very poor and destitute life. Deepak has met with Asha several times, and would like to marry her. Asha would also like to marry Deepak. And then Asha finds out that Mala is still alive, and she must now decide to withhold that information from Deepak so she could marry him instead or tell him the truth and lose him forever.

Two friends live happily until misunderstandings arise between them.

Alibaba, (Dharmendra) a native of Guleba is in love with Marjina (Hema Malini). The town has a ruler, Abu Hasan. Guleban is terrorized by dacoits. Ali Baba hears the password to the door of the cave of the dacoits and takes a lot of jewels from the cave. His brother is killed by the dacoits as he forgets the password and is trapped inside. A young girl whose father has been murdered by the dacoits (Zeenat Aman) has a score to settle with Abu Hasan. Abu Hasan turns out to be the head of the dacoits and he comes to know that Ali Baba visits the cave. He hides the 40 thieves in large urns to kill Ali Baba. Ali Baba comes to know of this and kills them all. He brings to light the startling truth that their own ruler heads the dacoits!

Suraj and Malti are in love and get very intimate. They are introduced to their respective families, and there is approval all round, and their marriage is to be finalized soon. Before that could happen, Suraj meets with an accident and is killed instantly, leaving Malti devastated. Malti's dad, Charandas, is shocked to find that Malti is pregnant, and both of them re-locate to a secluded area, where Malti's gives brith to a baby boy. Charandas has the child disposed off in a garbage can, and tells Malti that the child died. Malti recovers and subseqeuntly marries Mr. O.P. Bakshi, and settles down. The young man is Jyoti, who was left in a garbage can at the time of his birth, but is now a dreaded, ruthless, and much feared criminal don, going by the name of Jwala.

When a former employee of Amirchand, Ratanlal (Shreeram Lagoo) approaches Durgadevi for marrying her two sons to her two daughters, she humiliates him and turns him away. Unperturbed by this, he asks the assistance of his two sons, Ram (Sanjeev Kumar) and Laxman (Shashi Kapoor), so that the marriages can take place, and at the same time Durgadevi and Makhanlal be taught a lesson. Both the sons readily agree to do this, and Ram goes to Durgadevi household as a servant to woo Shanti; while Laxman poses as a wealthy playboy to woo Roopa. But Makhanlal and his wife, Jwala (Shashikala) want Roopa to marry their jailbird son, Chander (Ranjeet), and will not stop at anything, including abducting Durgadevi herself, to pave their way to wealth.

After Madhu's mom becomes seriously ill; Ram is unable to repay a loan he had taken to pay for Sharda's marriage; while funds are needed to continue the education of both Sunder and Shankar, misunderstandings crop up, and Ram gives an ultimatum to Madhu - abandon her family and re-locate with him and his parents to Bombay or else he will take their daughter and leave Madhu behind.
