Disappointing Films & TV Shows...
Films and TV Shows that disappointed me
I wont be having a full on attack of these films I am merely just pointing out the facts to why I expected more.
I will be judging on personal experience, reviews and not taking into account any other criticism, ratings etc because vice versa there have been films where there they've been criticized harshly but are actually quite good.
I would also like to point out that this list doesnt mean I dont like these films otherwise I wouldve called this list bad films or something but mostly I do like these films, I was just disappointed they were not better.

- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsTom CruiseNicole KidmanTodd FieldA Manhattan doctor embarks on a bizarre, night-long odyssey after his wife's admission of unfulfilled longing. The film is not crap by any means but it’s not great either. Kubrick’s signatures are obvious as you watch Eyes Wide Shut but the subtle wit and relentless force that made shots in ody and Clockwork Orange pop out of the screen and imprint themselves in your brain was missing. The performances were deliberately staggered to suggest a dream state but it just added to the feeling that the film was more of a grind than a pleasurable experience.
Where kubrick also said himself that its not up to standard.
“Stanley called me about two weeks before he died, We had a long conversation about Eyes Wide Shut. He told me it was a piece of s*** and that he was disgusted with it and that the critics were going to have him for lunch. - DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond tries to stop an organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource.Casino Royale was a brilliant film and cemented Daniel Craig as the new Bond. But where that film was an awesome update to a franchise that was starting to go stale, Quantum Of Solace failed to build on the momentum.
A script was left unrefined by another Writer’s Guild strike, the finished product didn’t feel like a Bond film but more of a generic action-thriller. Craig carried the film as much as he could but the whole experience was best described as an extended yawn. And all the best Bond films are defined by their villain and Quantum’s Dominic Greene, the environmental businessman was bland as they come; and bland best describes this film. - DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsJoaquin PhoenixPhilip Seymour HoffmanAmy AdamsA Naval veteran arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future - until he is tantalized by a cult and its charismatic leader.I went into this film with high hopes but it turned out to be one of PTA's worst, I would say its a experimental film if anything. The Scientology made me struggle to find out what the heck was going on as there was no narrative, plot, or progression for a story. A film carried by the actors and was the only reason why I continued watching. But the thing I was most disappointed about was PTA's vision for this film I struggled to see that distinct style & prowess he has in all his previous films, in the master you could see he got lost in his imagination.
The best way to describe it would be a bland colourless nightmare where nothing happens and we have to watch it not happen for 2 and a half hours.
However this takes nothing away from PTA, this is a difficult topic to express, a film that would probably be even worse if done by other directors they probably would'nt even attempt it. So I admire the risk taken by PTA, hes still young and a maturing filmmaker plus he has his whole career in front of him to produce better work.

After rewatching The Master I must admit I like it more, but its purely because its fittingly the kind of movie that I like to watch, a film thats more thought provoking with less dialogue and more room for imagination. However I still stand by my previous opinion that this film is not as good as There will be blood, Magnolia, Boogie Nights or even Hard Eight. It's hard to really explain what makes The Master work even though it lacks many traditional narrative elements that provide most other films with powerful drama, closure and immediate gratification. It's a very subjective experience, and I'm sure many viewers will have difficulty immersing themselves in the film without the typical sense of narrative progression and character goals. For this reason, The Master is probably Anderson's least accessible film. That said, I think it is a testament to Anderson's enormous intellect and directorial abilities that he managed to capture the attentions and fascination of so many viewers and critics. I think that what PTA tried to do is get The Master to linger long after the lights went up in the cinema. What I liked about it the most was the film's intellectual ambitions, along with its very unique, eerie tone, which kept me mulling over the experience for days. - DirectorRoman PolanskiStarsJodie FosterKate WinsletChristoph WaltzTwo pairs of parents hold a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a fight, though as their time together progresses, increasingly childish behavior throws the discussion into chaos.A film I liked at first & I think I even put it in one of my other lists, because I think I got fooled of the great actors that was on show. Despite its problems its a easy film to watch if you want to watch a film with equally easy laughs and a bunch of great actors bickering, getting drunk, crying and throwing up then I would say go watch it.
The film has several flaws the main being the cast selected, seriously why didnt polanski pick comic actors? apart from John C Reily the rest felt out of place because everything they said wasnt believable or organic. Kate winslet was over the top and not funny and waltz... well he just had to watch green hornet to see how bad he is at comic acting.
When I found out Polanski directed it I was shocked because I thought this is a decent film for a young up and coming director to make, but it was Polanski?! Either he went mad after raping that kid or hes gone senile. Also because why would you choose to adapt this film? it is exactly like the play, set in one room?! what was really the point of making this film if your not going to utilise the cinematic apparatus to make it fresh, individual and distinctive.
Besides its lack of cinematic vision it did get some easy laughs from Reily and Waltz. Waltz sher arrogance and inappropriateness were some what entertaining and funny. But thats only thanks to the script and lines for his character.
A good way to put the film would be when Winslet cried out “what the hell are we still doing here!?” Accurately symbolising what I was thinking in the first 30 minutes. - DirectorsLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneCarrie-Anne MossThe human city of Zion defends itself against the massive invasion of the machines as Neo fights to end the war at another front while also opposing the rogue Agent Smith. It's amazing how such a brilliant opening film can devolve into nothing but uninteresting fight scenes and unnecessary visual effects.
- DirectorPaul HaggisStarsDon CheadleSandra BullockThandiwe NewtonLos Angeles citizens with vastly separate lives collide in interweaving stories of race, loss and redemption. Its just over-sentimental mass produced Hollywood tripe, we are forced in to liking because of its anti-racism theme. Its like a non intelligent linear film.
The Oscars are never a full proof indicator of quality film making, that’s why Avatar and Titanic won so many unworthy Academy Awards. Crash was another example of a average film somehow winning the Best Picture prize. Not many people had seen the film before it was catapulted into the mainstream consciousness by the Oscars and hordes of general public ran to the nearest multiplex to see what the fuss was about.
Although there are some good performances, the heavy handed movie about racial tension in LA was finger-wagging as it was nauseating. A not-so-special script and a pace that is only matched by your grandmother’s stair lift, this was one bandwagon that Hollywood shouldn’t have jumped on. - DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.A poor film sequel they shouldn't have made, The first one was decent and funny allowing people who are not only teens to enjoy it. But this.. this just outlined why Michael Bay is such a poor poooor director
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsNoomi RapaceLogan Marshall-GreenMichael FassbenderFollowing clues to the origin of mankind, a team finds a structure on a distant moon, but they soon realize they are not alone.A fair and enjoyable space thriller that failed to explore its story with any intelligence. Prometheus shoots itself in the foot as it repeatedly chooses to ask questions it never even attempts to answer. And there are plot holes all over the place, not to mention a whole host of characters acting as if they don’t have a brain cell between them.
The writing is very very bad. None of the characters are acting in a logical way. There is no explainable motivations behind their actions and the story behind the alien race contradicts itself. After watching it I have a feeling it's just a collection of cool ideas put together without any logic to link them. The film pretends to raise some philosophical questions but it's done in a very childish way. - DirectorJames CameronStarsSam WorthingtonZoe SaldañaSigourney WeaverA paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home. The biggest problem for Avatar was that it was very hard to give a crap about the Na’vi, and if you didn’t care about the plight of the film’s protagonists, then it made the rest of it pretty much redundant. There were some people who needed therapy because they couldn’t handle not living in in the Na’vi home-world, but they are also the type who stalk their exes and have questionable internet search histories.
Avatar did make an astonishing amount of money at the box office and it’s the highest grossing film of all time, but that is in no way an indicator of quality. People went to see it because of the hype and awards need to be handed to the marketing team who did a stellar job.
James Cameron is planning two more sequels and I’m sure they will do just as well at the box office but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a sad state to witness a once great director become the film worlds version of a professional fire works show. And like a fire works show, you forget about it once the last one has gone off. - DirectorMcGStarsChristian BaleSam WorthingtonAnton YelchinAs the machines prepare for a final attack, John Connor and a mysterious stranger delve into the heart of Skynet and uncover a terrible secret involving the annihilation of mankind.Terminator 3 was a absolute let down and was a pointless sequel that did not add anything of great importance to further the story. Very much a sequel for the sake of making a sequel and nothing more
Unfortunately, the writers and director didn’t give us the film we wanted, instead we got the ever-dull Sam Worthingthon become the focus as a death row prisoner Marcus Wright who is ”resurrected” after having signed his body over to be experimented with. What follows is a plod where Wright tries to figure out what’s going on and the location of the resistance movement. On the way he meets Kyle Reese played by Anton Yelchin who is the one of the few good things in the film. So now that Matrix: Reloaded collapsed under the weight of pretentious ambiguity, the final film in the trilogy fizzled out to a disappointing nothing.
People were looking for this film to tie everything together and conclude the Neo story, cementing him as humanities’s savior. But what we got was an overly long and cheesy-CGI fight sequence between the humans and the machines, where Neo was no where to be seen. He was busy negotiating a truce as exciting as that sounds. He did eventually have a final fight with thousands of Agent Smiths but no one cared.
Boring and too focused on its own image of self importance, Matrix Revolutions was a finale equivalent to a male porn star struggling to maintain an erection who eventually gives us a dribble at the climax. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayBane, an imposing terrorist, attacks Gotham City and disrupts its eight-year-long period of peace. This forces Bruce Wayne to come out of hiding and don the cape and cowl of Batman again. If you are a fan or not of Christopher Nolan’s realistic take on Batman, there was plenty to enjoy in The Dark Knight. It also set the bar for the final film in the trilogy.
However, when you looked through the cloud of hype and removed your BatFan glasses, The Dark Knight Rises was a bloated and dull conclusion and one of Christopher Nolan’s worst films to date.
The very few things that were good was Joseph Gordon Levitts great on screen acting but the film contained to many cheesy characters like Foley and a predictable ending which is unlike Nolan. The Dark Knight rises was not bad by all means but it shouldve been better especially for what the 2nd film assisted it to do.
Overall the film was good and decent to end summarize the trilogy but its just I and im sure everyone else expected it to be much more. - CreatorBill LawrenceStarsZach BraffDonald FaisonSarah ChalkeIn the unreal world of Sacred Heart Hospital, intern John "J.D." Dorian learns the ways of medicine, friendship and life.It fails as a comedy because well it just isn't funny. It's childish, silly, goofy and certainly alternative in the same way that mud could be considered an alternative for coffee), but it isn't funny. It lacks any sort of sophistication or appeal to grown ups and this is strange because I believe its for the adult audience. Perhaps the general intelligence level has dropped or perhaps the show is aimed at adults with special needs.
- CreatorsCarter BaysCraig ThomasStarsJosh RadnorJason SegelCobie SmuldersA father recounts to his children the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother. The writers only uses tricks of "sudden turns of events" to generate funny moments. Having watched many episodes of this show, all I see is that characters constantly changing their beliefs, decisions, and actions back and forth without any logical reasons: we two must break up, no, we must get back together, no, that's just impulse, we should still break up, no, that's true love, we must get back together, no, it's true love because we wanted it to be, we should break up......
The show is not making too much sense now. The five figures in the show don't have consistent characters any more. You can not ask such questions: "how could this person possibly do such a thing?" Because you won't have any logical answers. Maybe this is exactly what American shows are about: like fast food, you don't need to enjoy it, just swallow what is given to you. Sometimes, you stop and think "wait a minute, this doesn't make sense, doesn't XX just did something exactly the opposite a minute ago?" No, you can't. The writers just throw to you another contradictory joke and you are moving on.
I didn't laugh a single time, accurately predicting almost every encounter in the first few seconds and staring at the screen in baffled wonderment. How is this show popular?! This show is essentially THE prime example of our American pursuit of laziness. We don't dare watch a show that challenges our thinking or is interesting in any way, we just want to watch the same crap that has been on TV since the first fart joke debuted. - CreatorTom HertzStarsPatrick WarburtonMegyn PriceOliver HudsonTwo couples and their single friend, all at different stages in their relationships, deal with the complications of dating, commitment, and marriage.Apart from Patrick Warburton this show offers very few laughs.
I dont know what E4 has come to? seriously! - DirectorPierre MorelStarsLiam NeesonMaggie GraceFamke JanssenA retired CIA agent travels across Europe and relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter, who has been kidnapped while on a trip to Paris. To put it in the most simplest way this is a 'Poor mans Bourne Film'.
Its like a poorly executed typical Asian revenge film.
The movie is so full of clichés and unrealistic it's unbelievable it was made by adults. Apparently, we're supposed to derive some kind of psychological gratification from the Freudian symbols of innocence, fatherly love, superhuman strength and righteousness. It actually reminds me of the fantasies I had when I was 8.
Here's the plot: a rich, spoiled American virgin girl goes to Paris with a friend and gets abducted by Albanians and sold into sex slavery. Luckily, her daddy happens to be a ex-CIA agent and tracks them down effortlessly, kills and tortures them in a blood-curdling fashion and gets to his daughter just before she gets her throat slit by the evil (yet also stupid looking so you can still feel good about yourself), toad-like sheik. On his way, daddy makes a such a spectacle of killing and torturing people that it makes you wonder whether anyone would take so much trouble if no third party was watching. He doesn't even spare people who are innocent and are unlucky enough to get in his way. Like the wife of a French agent involved in the mess, whom Neeson shoots in the arm, because her husband refuses to give him information on St-Claire. (Meanwhile, their kids have been tucked into bed 5 minutes ago yet they don't seem to wake up. Yep, totally.)
All the circumstances are miraculously in Neeson's favor. His daughter is talking to him on the phone when she gets abducted. (otherwise, how would he know? Most victims of sex slavery are poor East European girls who don't have cell-phones, which would be too boring). Also, she's standing in the bathroom from where she can see her friend being abducted first, so daddy has enough time to instruct her how to hide and to shout out the details of their complexion while being dragged away (at which she miraculously succeeds, despite her panic and the struggle she puts up).
Also, multiple men can apparently easily get into a hotel room and abduct two girls, but Neeson has to use Spiderman skills to get inside. Well, thank God the bas relief of the wall was adjusted to his height exactly; otherwise, the movie would have ended there.
Another point that disturbed me very much is Neeson indifference to the scores of other girls who have been drugged and raped by Albanians. Apparently, the PRINCIPLE of sex slavery doesn't concern him, just the fact that it happens to HIS daughter.
In the end, Neeson returns with his daughter to America, with only a broken arm after fighting hundreds of heavily-armed men. Also, he has no trouble leaving France after killing each and every one of them. (France must be a Third World country). Everyone is happy and his ex-wife has to admit he's not such a loser after all. Every Freudian fascination has been satisfied trice over.
This movie does absolutely no justice to Eastern Europeans (all Albanians are shown as stupid scum and we're supposed to gloat seeing them being electrocuted), and above all, the REAL victims of modern sex slavery. I could write a lot more about this piece of garbage but I think I've made my point now.
