Watched> Thursday, BOXING DAY, 2024 @ Edge Water Studios. Rated 6 * * * * * * BRILLIANT/OUTSTANDING < Cert. U any age > How can you not rate this 3-year spectacular of music, the very best in ratings, when it as 58 episodes covering many many hours of fantastic music, not just from The Man Himself, JOHNNY CASH, June Carter, Carl Perkins, The Tennessee Three and The Statler Brothers, followed by another hundred or more great singers from all genre of music from Country, Pop, Rock, Rock n Roll, Blues and the list goes on, At the time, those at the top at ABC (The Big Knobs, as you would call them) wanted Johnny Cash to just have Country Singers only, on the shows, BUT CASH REFUSED, AND STOOD HIS GROUND, AND INSISTED THAT HE WAS GOING TO HAVE SINGERS OF ALL GENRE, AND THAT IS WHAT HE MADE HAPPEN, which meant opening the doors to many newcomers in the music world, like Bob Dylan, Lulu from Scotland and Neil Diamond, plus many more. I have never ever come across a three year show of 58 episodes, showcasing over one hundred artists. No wonder Cash was well liked by ALL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, though it could be a Required Taste. A wonderful four years of JOHNNY CASH coming in to our homes, to watch on our TV Sets. With 50 to 60 minutes of pure entertainment, all about the family and the Gospel, told through music, sung and played to a very high standard, mainly full of love, just the sort of thing you want at Christmas Time. Introducing many Country Singers to join Johnny and his family at home or on stage at The Grand Ole Opry. A Special Appearance from Comic ANDY KAUFMAN in 1979 Christmas Special, who appears as his character LATKA GRAVAS from the hit network television show TAXI. He 'comics around' the show, and then near the end of the show, he amazingly sings, and WOW, what a singer he is, singing as ELVIS PRESLEY, singing THAT'S WHEN YOUR HEARTACHES BEGIN, and as Johnny Cash says he is the best singing impersonator of Elvis around, and how right he is. That alone, is not to be missed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Christmas Shows 1976 to 1979. Though it could be a Required Taste. (ps)
