Ryan Joseph Giggs OBE is a Welsh football coach and former player. He was most recently the manager of the Wales national team. He is also a co-owner of Salford City. Giggs played his entire professional career for Manchester United and briefly served as the club's interim manager after the sacking of David Moyes in April 2014. Giggs is regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation.

The son of rugby union and Wales international rugby league footballer Danny Wilson, Giggs was born in Cardiff but moved to Manchester at the age of six when his father joined Swinton RLFC. Denmark's Peter Schmeichel is arguably the best goalkeeper in the history of the Premier League. He had a glittering career that lasted from 1981 until 2003 and is best remembered for his hugely successful time in the Premier League with Manchester United - with whom he won countless trophies - and for helping Denmark to win the European Championships in 1992. Schmeichel was born in Gladsaxe, a town on the outskirts of Copenhagen, and played for several local football teams before playing for Brøndby. It was Schmeichel's impressive performances with Brøndby that led to him being snapped up by Sir Alex Ferguson for Manchester United, the team Schmeichel supported as a boy. When he joined Manchester United in 1991, he was fairly unknown to the other players but left eight years later as a prominent club 'Great' with Ferguson having described his £505,000 signing as the "bargain of the century". Schmeichel's 6ft 3in height and imposing physique, prompting his 'Great Dane' nickname, were beneficial when conceiving the innovative 'star-jump save'. Although now a widely used move in goalkeeping, Schmeichel was reportedly the first to take on this technique with regularity, adopting skills from playing handball in Denmark. Generally considered one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, Peter's success earned him 24 major trophies and he has been featured amongst the '125 Greatest Living Footballers' at the FIFA 100 celebrations and within the Football League 100 Legends. In 2001 Schmeichel was awarded an honorary MBE for his services to football. Following his retirement from football, Schmeichel has remained in the public eye, in both sport and television. Peter presented the Champions League coverage in Denmark for 8 years, hosted the World Cup show for Russia TV in 2018, has presented a variety of entertainment shows for TV2, TV3 Denmark and Discovery international and regularly appears as an analyst on the Premier League channel and for the BBC on 'Match of the Day'. Gary Neville rose through the youth ranks of Manchester United and established himself as the club's first-choice right-back under its most successful manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. Neville won many honours with the club, including the treble (Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League) in 1999. He was named Manchester United club captain after Roy Keane left in 2005 and lifted his first trophy as captain of Manchester United by winning the Carling Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

He also played 85 times for England between 1995 and 2007, becoming the country's most capped right-back. He died on 17 January 2025 in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK.

Alex Ferguson played professional football from 1957 to 1974, all for Scottish clubs, before becoming even more famous as a manager. He was the manager of St Mirren from 1974 to 1978 and won the Cup Winners Cup in 1983 with Aberdeen. He was nicknamed "Furious Fergie" while he was managing Aberdeen. Duncan Edwards is an English footballer who played for Manchester United F.C. and the England National Football Team. He was one of The Busby Babes, the young United team formed under manager Matt Busby in the mid-1950s, playing 177 matches for the club. One of eight players who died as a result of the Munich air disaster, he survived initially but succumbed to his injuries in hospital two weeks later.

Diego Forlán is a Uruguayan professional football manager and former player.

At club level, Forlán is a two-time winner of both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe. With the Uruguay National Football Team, he had huge individual success at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (2010), finishing as joint top scorer with five goals, including the goal of the tournament, and winning the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player.

Forlán began his career in his native Uruguay as a youth player with Peñarol and Danubio F.C., before joining Argentine club C.A. Independiente. After rising through their youth team and after a successful four-year spell, he sealed a move to England with Manchester United F.C. in 2002. His form for United was not as successful as at Independiente, although he won the Premier League in 2002-03 and the FA Cup in 2003-04. Forlán scored in Atlético's 2010 Europa League final victory against Fulham F.C.. In 2011, he joined Inter Milan of Italy before moving to S.C. Internacional in 2012. After spells in Japan with Cerezo Osaka, back in Uruguay with his boyhood club Peñarol, in India with Mumbai City and in Hong Kong with Kitchee, Forlán retired from professional football in August 2019.

Forlán also had a successful international career, scoring 36 times for his country between his debut in 2002 and his retirement in 2015, including six goals at FIFA World Cups. On 12 July 2011, at the Copa América 2011 (2011), which Uruguay won, Forlán earned his 79th international cap in a match against Mexico National Football Team, breaking the record held since 1986 by goalkeeper Rodolfo Rodríguez. On 20 June 2013, in a match against Nigeria National Football Team at the 2013 Confederations Cup, Forlán became the first Uruguayan to win 100 caps. Edwin van der Sar is a Dutch football executive and former professional player who is the chief executive of AFC Ajax, with whom he began his senior playing career in the early 1990s; he is considered to be a member of the club's golden generation and was part of the Ajax team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995. A goalkeeper, he left Ajax for Juventus in 1999, where he spent two years before moving to England, first to Fulham and then to Manchester United in 2005. There he won a second Champions League title in 2008, making him one of just eight players at the time to have won the competition with more than one club.
