The first edition of the U20 Rugby Championship was held in Australia in 2024, with the up and coming stars of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa doing battle. In 2025, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape plays host to the six matches. The competition will be played annually in one country and will comprise a round robin where all four teams will play each other once across a three-week period. A number of Argentina’s 2024 play professional rugby in Super Rugby Americas. Examples include Juan Manuel Vivas, Tomás Rapetti, Faustino Sánchez Valarolo, Luciano Asevedo, Álvaro García Iandolino, Juan Pedro Bernasconi, and Tomás Di Biase. Captain Efraín Elías now plays Top 14 for Toulouse and fullback Benjamín Elizalde plays for Bristol Bears in the English Premiership.
