Luke Metcalf and the New Zealand Warriors host Jamal Fogarty and the Canberra Raiders in a blockbuster clash at Go Media Stadium.

The home side have filled the role of "road warriors", with fixtures in Christchurch, Brisbane, Wollongong and Brisbane again - all valuable wins.

With five straight victories under their belt, the Warriors hope to consolidate their current second standing on the NRL table.

The game kicks off at 6:05pm Sunday.

They are set to welcome back Ali Leiataua from injury at centre, which will offset the losses of props and co-captains Mitchell Barnett and James Fisher-Harris to State of Origin duty and suspension respectively.

These two teams met in the NRL season-opener in Las Vegas three months ago.

When the Raiders won easily that afternoon, it was hard to see them meeting in a second v fourth rematch 13 weeks later – and even harder to see the Warriors being the team in second.

They now have the chance to go level on points with the Canterbury Bulldogs in first, after the Bulldogs were hammered 44-8 by the Dolphins on Thursday night.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 6.05pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sport, with live updates here on Stuff via Tribe.

No other NRL team has faced the Warriors more than Canberra - the Melbourne Storm have also fronted up 53 times, but this encounter will give the Raiders that distinction outright.

The Auckland-based side have beaten their rivals from the Aussie capital 25 times, with only North Queensland (27) and Newcastle (26) offering more success. They have enjoyed a 17-11 record in home games and 13-8 at Mt Smart.

In fact, the Raiders have not won in New Zealand since 2019, when they prevailed 46-12, despite a try double from Chanel Harris-Tavita.

Canberra won the much-hyped season-opener 30-8 at Las Vegas, when a length-of-the-field, intercept try to Xavier Savage turned the contest in their favour. They also won their previous meeting 20-18 at GIO Stadium, but the Warriors own the previous three encounters.

Before the Warriors were established in 1995, Canberra and Manly Sea Eagles were probably Kiwis' most-followed NRL teams. The "Green Machine" previously featured NZ league legends Brent Todd, Quentin Pongia and John Lomax during a golden era that also included current coach Ricky Stuart, NSW Origin coach Laurie Daley and Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga.
