2025 Movies RANKED

by a-j-kelly • Created 4 months ago • Modified 3 days ago
2024 was an unfathomably remarkable year for movies, so I'm looking forward to what 2025 will offer. Whether entries of a beloved franchise, independent fare, or either-way sort of releases, this year seems to have a wide range of possibilities in the cinematic landscape. I rank all 2025 films I see through this list from worst to best. Since this will be the first time I'm making this list from the year's start, I want to give you an idea of what I'm excited about. Below are my Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2025:

1. Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning [May 23]
2. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina [June 6]
3. Wicked: For Good [November 21]
4. Sinners [10/10]
5. Mickey 17 [10/10]
6. Novocaine [10/10]
7. Superman [July 11]
8. Companion [10/10]
9. A Minecraft Movie [5/10]
10. The Monkey [10/10]

I'm hopeful that the above movies, which I actively can't wait to see, live up to my expectations and hopefully exceed them.

This list is entirely my opinion, so you don't have to agree. I'm just creating this for fun!

The atmosphere, Ludwig Göransson's score, its effective horror, and deep roots in music create a masterpiece for the history books!

I knew I'd have a fun and fantastic time with this thrill ride and consider it a must-watch. It subverted my expectations by being an entertaining follow-up to the original while also exciting me about the idea of "The Accountant 3." Ben Affleck and a thrilling Jon Bernthal make for an inspired pairing as Christian and Brax, having me interested in their attempt to solve a murder case. The action was fun, the pacing was perfect, it improved on every problem I had with the original, and I laughed a lot, so if there's an action movie that begs for the theatrical experience, this is it!

While it technically had an Oscar-qualifying run in 2024, I'm counting it as a 2025 release because it deserves your attention. The animation, voice acting, hilarious screenplay, and captivating story are strong enough; the care they put into Daffy Duck and Porky Pig's dynamic and relationship is what I love most. I’m unsure if it’s better than “Longlegs,” but Osgood Perkins’ latest effort is worth the watch. Theo James and Christian Convery give strong performances, Perkins’ directing and screenplay are wildly creative, and the horror and dark comedy blend works. Maybe the middle drags for about five to ten minutes, but that can’t taint the rest of this thrilling experience!

The roller coaster ride in horror movie series form returns in style. Reliably entertaining without taking itself seriously, “Dog Man” made me happy. It's not the best movie of 2025, but when directors Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza's main objective is to show war in its most realistic form, it doesn't matter.
