The Cleveland Show's regular cast who played other parts in Family Guy
Family Guy has an ongoing problem with The Cleveland Show's new spin-off cast. If the other four full-time actors had the option to sign up to be part-time actors in new Family Guy seasons, only two of them took that chance. Only half of them continued playing their main The Cleveland Show characters part-time in Family Guy after Cleveland's family moved with him back to Quahog. Sanaa Lathan's Donna Tubbs and Kevin Michael Richardson's Cleveland Brown Junior became new parts of Family Guy's regular voice cast in Season 14, but Reagan Gomez and Jason Sudeikis never touched a Family Guy script, not even in seasons during The Cleveland Show's original run. This is why we never saw Roberta with the rest of the Tubbs family in The Splendid Source. When we see Cleveland's whole family moving into Family Guy with him, Roberta never has a big enough role to talk again after The Cleveland Show. That same episode was the third and final time we see Rallo talk in Family Guy, after The Splendid Source and It's a Trap! Rallo and Roberta are in a weird sort of limbo where they never get an actual voiced role in a new Family Guy episode, but they are not yet retired either. Speaking of retired, this user list is dedicated to the loving memory of Carl Reiner. Born March 20, 1922, Died June 29, 2020. In The Cleveland Show, he played a nice old retired man who became Rallo's new friend. This user list is also dedicated to the loving memory of David Lynch, who died five days after I created this user list. Born January 20, 1946, Died January 16, 2025. He was already a well-known film and television artist before The Cleveland Show, in which he played Gus, the nice but shady bartender of The Broken Stool.
The first four minutes of The Cleveland Show begin with Cleveland Brown in Quahog with his familiar Family Guy neighbors, before he moves with his son to Los Angeles to be a talent scout for baseball. He stops by his hometown of Stoolbend to visit some old friends, until he decides to settle down and marry his former love from high school, Donna Tubbs. Three years later, Cleveland re-visits his old baseball dream and takes his family to Los Angeles in California Dreamin (All the Cleves are Brown), until he learns why settling for a simpler life in Stoolbend was better than his dream job. The Family Guy characters who appear and talk in The Cleveland Show's pilot episode are Seth MacFarlane as Brian, Peter, Quagmire and Stewie, Alex Borstein as Lois, Seth Green as Chris, Mila Kunis as Meg, Jennifer Tilly as Bonnie, and Patrick Warburton as Joe. The first Family Guy episode to feature all ten characters and seven voice actors - Bonnie, Brian, Chris, Cleveland, Lois, Joe, Meg, Peter, Quagmire, and Stewie - was A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Bucks. They were all present in Cleveland Junior's first appearance in Love Thy Trophy, but Lacey Chabert still played Meg back then. Mila Kunis played Meg later when we saw Junior again in Fore, Father.
I created this user list to reveal which other actors from The Cleveland Show's regular voice cast have also participated in any Family Guy episode before and after The Cleveland Show started, so we can find out which people are willing to come back to Family Guy to play the same characters from The Cleveland Show, or just had extra time available to play different characters in Family Guy after The Cleveland Show ended. We also find out if all six Family Guy actors from The Cleveland Show's pilot, plus Seth's sister and Cleveland's new voice actor, were present in the same episodes with The Cleveland Show's actors. Reagan Gomez did not play Roberta in The Cleveland Show's first thirteen episodes, but she did act with Mila Kunis once before in the That 70's Show episode Hyde Gets the Girl, but her only time acting with Seth Green and Jennifer Tilly was her final time playing Roberta in Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff. Strangely enough, Alex Borstein and Seth MacFarlane have other roles to play in The Cleveland Show's regular voice cast next to Mike Henry, and six other actors in this user list were already in The Cleveland Show's pilot. It is sadly ironic that every voice actor from the Bear family and the Krinklesac family got new work in Family Guy before Reagan Gomez and Jason Sudeikis did. After The Cleveland Show's cancellation, the first episode to feature all ten major Family Guy characters voiced in the same episode as Donna was in Take My Wife, then Cleveland Junior in Follow the Money, then both Cleveland Junior and Donna in Nanny Goats. If He's Bla-ack! began with four minutes in Stoolbend when Cleveland Brown + Junior started moving back to Quahog, their nine Stoolbend neighbors and eight voice actors reuniting for a sendoff scene could have been Mike Henry as Cleveland and Rallo, Sanaa Lathan as Donna, Kevin Michael Richardson as Cleveland Junior and Lester, Reagan Gomez as Roberta, Jason Sudeikis as Holt, Seth MacFarlane as Tim and Doctor Fist, Aseem Batra as Kendra, and Glenn Howerton as Ernie.

First episode in Family Guy: The Splendid Source reprising Donna Tubbs
Regular roles in Family Guy: Donna Tubbs after Season 12
Episode cast credits with: Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Tilly and Patrick Warburton in The Cleveland Show's Pilot, Rachael MacFarlane in Pilling Them Softly, Arif Zahir in HBO-No and Prescription Heroine
Alex Borstein and Seth MacFarlane are two main Family Guy voice actors who were cast to play other roles in The Cleveland Show with Mike Henry. In Cleveland's 88 episodes, Alex Borstein played Hadassah Lowenstein, Big-Boob June, and some earlier Family Guy characters in 19 episodes, and Seth MacFarlane played Tim Bear, Doctor Fist and some earlier Family Guy characters in 54 episodes. The spin-off cast pendulum swung both ways with Sanaa Lathan and Kevin Michael Richardson reprising Donna and Cleveland Junior in post-spinoff seasons, and Kevin's new Family Guy character Jerome appearing more frequently after Jerome is the New Black and Save The Clam, which were his only two appearances in four Family Guy seasons to air during The Cleveland Show.
Nanny Goats marks a turning point for Donna Tubbs and fat Cleveland Brown Junior, in which their voice actors both surpass the Family Guy episode count of Alex Borstein voicing Loretta Brown and Mike Henry voicing thin Cleveland Brown Junior in pre-spinoff seasons. Nanny Goats is also the milestone of Kevin's Family Guy episode count surpassing Seth MacFarlane's The Cleveland Show episode count, and Boys & Squirrels is the milestone of Sanaa's Family Guy episode count surpassing Alex Borstein's The Cleveland Show episode count.- Actor

Well-known, king-sized actor and voice artist Kevin Michael Richardson was born in Bronx, New York. He is, perhaps, mostly recognizable for his deep voice, which he uses in many of his works.
Richardson is a classically trained actor. He first gained recognition as one of only eight U.S. high school students selected for the National Foundation for the Arts' "Arts '82" program, later he earned a scholarship to Syracuse University.
Kevin is well-known by various voice works, mostly villainous. He lent his voice to based-upon video game film Mortal Kombat (1995) as Goro, he was also in Matrix Revolutions (2003) as Deus Ex Machina, and made a brief appearance in Clerks II (2006) as a police officer. To mention that he did a brief additional voices for mega hit Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009).
He did voice in many animated films and TV series, such as "The Mask - The Animated Series" (1995), "The New Batman Adventures" (1997), "Pokemon" (1998), "Powerpuff Girls" (1998), "Voltron: The Third Dimension" (1998), "Family Guy", Lilo & Stitch (2002), as well as "Lilo & Stitch" TV series, "Codename Kids Next Door" (2002), Batman VS Dracula (2005) (V), where he voiced Joker, "Mummy The Animated Series" (2003), TMNT (2007) as General Aguila, "Transformers Animated" (2007) as Omega Supreme and Batman: Gotham Knight (2008), as Lucius Fox.
He also did voices in such video games as Halo 2 (Tartarus), Kingdom Hearts (Sebastian) and others. He lives in Los Angeles and likes to work in Manhattan.as Cleveland Brown Junior, Lester Krinklesac and Julius
First episode in Family Guy: The Son Also Draws as Howard Cunningham
Regular roles in Family Guy: Jerome and Cleveland Brown Junior after Season 12
Episode cast credits with: Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein and Seth Green in The Son Also Draws, Rachael MacFarlane in Peter, Peter, Caviar Eater, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Tilly and Patrick Warburton in Fifteen Minutes of Shame, Arif Zahir in The Fatman Always Rings Twice and Prescription Heroine
Mike Henry used to play Cleveland Junior in two Family Guy episodes from Season 2, and one episode from Season 3, but after his parents' divorce he gained a lot of weight from stress-eating and Ritalin between The Perfect Castaway and Love, Blactually. Kevin Michael Richardson became Cleveland Junior's new voice when he became a main character in The Cleveland Show, and he continued to play Junior in Family Guy after The Cleveland Show ended. The most likely reason why we still hear Cleveland Junior talk, but not Donna's kids is because Cleveland Junior started out as a part-time Family Guy character, and Roberta and Rallo have no earlier equivalent roles to replace in Family Guy, like Donna replacing Loretta as Cleveland's new wife.
In Season 16, Cleveland Junior started appearing in Family Guy more often than he did before The Cleveland Show when Nanny Goats was the fourth Family Guy episode to have Cleveland Junior speak in Kevin's voice, and the tenth Family Guy episode to have Donna speak. This is when they surpassed Cleveland Junior in Mike's voice's three episodes and Loretta's nine episodes in which they were voiced during the seven Family Guy seasons before The Cleveland Show.- Writer

Seth Woodbury MacFarlane was born in the small New England town of Kent, Connecticut, where he lived with his mother, Ann Perry (Sager), an admissions office worker, his father, Ronald Milton MacFarlane, a prep school teacher, and his sister, Rachael MacFarlane, now a voice actress and singer. He is of English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry, and descends from Mayflower passengers.
Seth attended and studied animation at the Rhode Island School of Design and, after he graduated, he was hired by Hanna-Barbera Productions (Now called Cartoon Network Studios) working as an animator and writer on the TV series Johnny Bravo (1997) and Cow and Chicken (1997). He also worked for Walt Disney Animation as a writer on the TV series Jungle Cubs (1996). He created The Life of Larry (1995) which was originally supposed to be used as an in-between on Mad TV (1995). Unfortunately the deal fell through but, a few months later, executives at FOX called him into their offices and gave him $50,000 to create a pilot for what would eventually become Family Guy (1999).
Since Family Guy's debut, MacFarlane has gone on to create two other television shows-American Dad! (2005) and The Cleveland Show (2009). MacFarlane began to establish himself as an actor, voice actor, animator, writer, producer, director, comedian, and singer throughout his career. MacFarlane has also written, directed and starred in Ted (2012) and its sequel Ted 2 (2015), and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014). He voiced the mouse, Mike, in the animated musical Sing (2016).as Tim Bear and Doctor Fist
First episode in Family Guy: Death Has A Shadow as Peter Griffin, Brian Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, Tom Tucker, God, Kool-Aid Guy, Johnson, Reporter, Bill Clinton, Charlie, Tom Hanks, Jerry Seinfeld, Dick, Jemima's Witness, Mike Brady, Porno Bogart, Fast Food Employee, Prisoner #2
Regular roles in Family Guy: Peter Griffin, Brian Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Carter Pewterschmidt, Elmer Hartman, Glenn Quagmire, God, Ida Davis, Seamus Levine, Tom Tucker
Seth MacFarlane used to be a main voice actor in The Cleveland Show, like he is in American Dad and Family Guy, but after Die Semi-Hard he stopped performing character voices in The Cleveland Show to make his movie Ted. Tim's voice was recast with Jess Harnell and Dr. Fist's voice was recast with Bryan Cranston. I almost liked Die Semi-Hard before I knew it lacked the creative comedic energy for a good movie parody episode that made Blue Harvest a successful trilogy, and now I feel like there may be some correlation with Die Semi-Hard being the last Cleveland Show to have Seth MacFarlane voice act in it. When Cleveland and the Tubbs family moved back to Quahog, Seth MacFarlane, speaking as Glenn Quagmire, expressed his disdain for voicing Tim as a boring talking bear character, and states that "It worked out okay in movie form" when he made Ted.- Actress

Alex Borstein is a Chicago-born American actress, known for her work on the animated sitcom Family Guy (1999), Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005), Bad Santa (2003), and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017). Borstein became a MADtv cast member in 1997, during the sketch comedy show's third season. The following year, Seth MacFarlane cast her as the voice of Lois Griffin in Family Guy, which debuted on Fox in 1999. In 2013, due to her work on Family Guy, Borstein was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance and, in 2018, Borstein won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Susie Myerson on the period dramedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.as Hadassah Lowenstein and Big-Boob June

Regular roles in Family Guy: Lois Griffin, Babs Pewterschmidt, Loretta Brown, Tricia Takanawa, Joanna/Elle Hitler, Nicole the Giant Chicken
Alex Borstein actually wanted to retire Loretta Brown's character with her divorce and death because performing Loretta hurt Alex's voice, and she was too mean and one-note to keep around. Arif Zahir becoming Cleveland Brown's new voice in Season 20 got me concerning two other characters of color whom Alex Borstein and Mike Henry used to play. Consuela, Joyce Kinney and Tricia Takanawa still appear in the Family Guy intro's current lineup of side characters, but their last voiced episodes to date were Hefty Shades Of Gray, Throw It Away and Cat Fight + Stewie's daydream in Rich Old Stewie. All three characters went missing in action after 2019. I think Family Guy writers Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Polina Diaz would be great at new identical voices for Tricia Takanawa and Consuela. If they do not want to voice act and write for the same characters, then my second pair of suggestions are actors of color who already play miscellaneous roles in Family Guy, Charlet Takashi Chung and Ignacio Serricchio. Ollie Williams and Joyce Kinney have gone missing after New Phone, Who Dis and Throw It Away, but their previous voice actors Phil LaMarr and Christine Lakin can still play them if any of the missing Quahog News Anchor characters return someday, so that Tom Tucker is no longer alone.- Producer

Bryan Lee Cranston was born on March 7, 1956 in Hollywood, California, to Audrey Peggy Sell, a radio actress, and Joe Cranston, an actor and former amateur boxer. His maternal grandparents were German, and his father was of Irish, German, and Austrian-Jewish ancestry. He was raised in the Canoga Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, and also stayed with his grandparents, living on their poultry farm in Yucaipa. Cranston's father walked out on the family when Cranston was eleven, and they did not see each other again until 11 years later, when Cranston and his brother decide to track down their father.
Cranston is known for his roles as Walter White on the AMC crime drama Breaking Bad (2008), Hal on the Fox situation comedy Malcolm in the Middle (2000), and Dr. Tim Whatley on five episodes of the NBC situation comedy Seinfeld (1989). Born in precisely the kind of small-town American setting so familiar from his films, David Lynch spent his childhood being shunted from one state to another as his research scientist father kept getting relocated. He attended various art schools, married Peggy Lynch and then fathered future director Jennifer Lynch shortly after he turned 21. That experience, plus attending art school in a particularly violent and run-down area of Philadelphia, inspired Eraserhead (1977), a film that he began in the early 1970s (after a couple of shorts) and which he would work on obsessively for five years. The final film was initially judged to be almost unreleasable weird, but thanks to the efforts of distributor Ben Barenholtz, it secured a cult following and enabled Lynch to make his first mainstream film (in an unlikely alliance with Mel Brooks), though The Elephant Man (1980) was shot through with his unique sensibility. Its enormous critical and commercial success led to Dune (1984), a hugely expensive commercial disaster, but Lynch redeemed himself with the now classic Blue Velvet (1986), his most personal and original work since his debut. He subsequently won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival with the dark, violent road movie Wild at Heart (1990), and achieved a huge cult following with his surreal TV series Twin Peaks (1990), which he adapted for the big screen, though his comedy series On the Air (1992) was less successful. He also draws comic strips and has devised multimedia stage events with regular composer Angelo Badalamenti. He had a much-publicized affair with Isabella Rossellini in the late 1980s.as Gus

His love for acting stems back to elementary school. He is related to former Texas State Senator A.R. Schwartz. McGill has starred in many films. His role as "D-Day" in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), taken out of desperation as a young unemployed actor, ended up being his most well known. Carl Reiner is a legend of American comedy, who achieved great success as a comic actor, a director, producer and recording artist. He won nine Emmy Awards, three as an actor, four as a writer and two as a producer. He also won a Grammy Award for his album "The 2,000 Year Old Man", based on his comedy routine with Mel Brooks.
Reiner was born in The Bronx, to Bessie (Mathias) and Irving Reiner, a watchmaker. His father was an Austrian Jewish immigrant and his mother was a Romanian Jewish immigrant. At the age of sixteen, while working as a sewing machine repairman, he attended a dramatic workshop sponsored by the Works Progress Administration. The direction of his life was set.
In the 1970s, some sources claimed that Reiner made his movie debut in New Faces of 1937 (1937), but that is unlikely as he would have only been fifteen years old at the time. (the movie shares the same plot as his erstwhile partner Mel Brooks' classic The Producers (1967), with a crooked producer planning to fleece his "angels" by producing a flop and absconding with the money). He didn't appear on screen, silver or small, until he made his television debut in 1948 in the short-lived television series, The Fashion Story (1948), then became a regular, the following year, on The Fifty-Fourth Street Revue (1949), another television series with a brief life.
Reiner made his Broadway debut in 1949 in the musical "Inside U.S.A.", a hit that ran for 399 performances. His next Broadway show, the musical revue "Alive and Kicking" (1950) was a flop, lasting just 43 performances. Max Liebman, the producer/director/writer/composer, had been called in to provide additional material after the show's troubled six week out-of-town preview in Boston. It didn't help -- the show closed after six weeks on Broadway -- but an important contact had been made.
Leibman was a producer-director on Your Show of Shows (1950), one of the great television series, and he hired Reiner to appear on the show in the middle of its first season. Reiner's first gig on the revue-like show was interviewing The Professor, a character played by Sid Caesar. He became central to the comedy portions of the show and, in 1953, he racked up the first of six Emmy Award nominations for acting. (In all, he was nominated for an Emmy Award a total of 13 times). When, in 1954, "Your Show of Shows" was split up by the network into its constituent parts, Reiner continued on with Sid in Caesar's Hour (1954). (Imogene Coca was given her own show, which lasted one season, and Leibman was allowed to produce specials).
"Your Show or Shows" had been a Broadway-style revue, featuring skits such as dancing (including a young Bob Fosse) whereas "Caesar's Hour" was pure comedy. "Your Show of Shows" had had a great cast, another other than Coca, most of the cast, including Reiner, Howard Morris, and Nanette Fabray (who went on to win an Emmy Award) moved over to "Caesar's Hour". In his three seasons on the show, he was nominated three more times for an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor, winning twice in 1957 and 1958. But it was its stable of comedy writers that was essential to the great success of both "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour". In addition to Mel Brooks, the writing staff included Neil Simon, his brother Danny Simon, Larry Gelbart and Mel Tolkin. (There are rumors that the young Woody Allen served as the writing staff's typist).
Reiner had sat in informally with the writers during "Your Show of Shows", but he began writing formally for "Caesar's Hour", having learned his craft from all of the other writers. As a self-described uncredited "writer without portfolio", he was able to leave writers' meetings at 6 P.M., if he wanted to. This gave him the time to work on a semi-autobiographical novel. Published in 1958, Enter Laughing (1967) is about a young man in 1930s New York trying to make it in show business. It was transformed into a play and, eventually, adapted into a movie in 1967, and a musical, many years later.
In 1959, he created the pilot for a television series, "Man of the House", in which he would play a writer, Rob Petrie, who balanced his family life with the demands of working as a writer for a comedy show headlined by an egotistical comedic genius modeled after Sid Caesar (a "benign despot" who lacked social skills, according to Reiner). The series was rooted in his experience on "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour". The network didn't pick up the pilot at first, as CBS executives claimed the main character, which was clearly autobiographical on Reiner's part, was too New York, too Jewish and too intellectual. In 1960, Reiner teamed up with Mel Brooks on The Steve Allen Plymouth Show (1956), and their routine "The 2000 Year Old Man" was a huge success. Reiner played the straight man to Brooks in the routine, which was spun-off into five comedy albums, bringing them a Grammy Award. They also made an animated television special based on their shtick in 1975.
Though CBS turned down "Man of the House", with the two-time Emmy Award-winning comedian Reiner as the lead, it was still interested in the series. However, they wanted a different actor in the lead role, and the casting of the protagonist came down to Johnny Carson and Dick Van Dyke. Carson was a game show host of no great note at the time, but Van Dyke was in the smash Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie (1963), for which he won a Tony Award. He got the role and another chapter of television history was made, when Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie and Morey Amsterdam all were cast in leading roles. Reiner, himself, would eventually play the role of Alan Brady, the abrasive Sid Caesar-like comic convinced of his own genius, in the last few seasons of the series' five-year run.
Another milestone in television comedy, The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961), brought Reiner five more Emmy Awards, three for writing and two as the producer of the series. In 1966, Reiner and the other principals, including executive producer Sheldon Leonard and Dick Van Dyke, decided to end the series at the height of its popularity and critical acclaim. (The show won Emmy Awards as best show and best comedy in 1965 and 1966, respectively). Twenty-nine years after the show was ended, Reiner reprised the role of Alan Brady on Mad About You (1992), winning his eighth (and so far, last) Emmy Award, this time as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.
It was on "The Dick Van Dyke Show" that Reiner first became a director. His feature film debut, as a director, was with the film adaptation of the play Joseph Stein had adapted from his 1958 novel, Enter Laughing (1967). His work as a writer-director, with Dick Van Dyke, in creating a Stan Laurel-type character in The Comic (1969) was not a success, but Where's Poppa? (1970) became a cult classic and Oh, God! (1977), with George Burns, and The Jerk (1979), with Steve Martin, were smash hits. The last film he directed was the romantic comedy That Old Feeling (1997).
Reiner's career continued into the 21st century, when most of his contemporaries had retired or passed. He was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2000 and acted in the remake of Ocean's Eleven (2001) and its two sequels. He also appeared as a voice artist in the film Good Boy (2003), and the animated series The Cleveland Show (2009) (he even wrote an episode for the series rooted in his "Your Show of Shows" experience). He was also a regular on the series Hot in Cleveland (2010) (with fellow nonagenarian Betty White), and appeared on an episode of Parks and Recreation (2009) in 2012. His last film role was as the voice of Carl Reineroceros in Toy Story 4 (2019), opposite his old compatriot Mel Brooks.
