Fred Armisen
Jenna Ortega, Christina Ricci, and Tim Burton get creepy and kooky in "Wednesday," the Netflix series based on "The Addams Family" comics and set at Nevermore Academy. Ortega of 'X' and 'Scream' fame takes on the title role as she navigates her teen years and solves a family mystery. Parents Morticia and Gomez Addams are played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen takes over for Christopher Lloyd as wacky Uncle Fester, and Christina Ricci returns to the franchise, this time playing Marilyn Thornhill, a teacher at Nevermore. Tim Burton, who was supposed to helm the 1991 film but had to leave for 'Batman Returns,' joins to produce and direct. The filmmaker revealed a personal connection to the character, "I felt like a male Carrie at [my] prom. I felt that feeling of having to be there but not be part of it. They don't leave you, those feelings, as much as you want them to go. Wednesday and I have the same worldview." Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ("Smallville") created the show and produced the first eight episodes. "Wednesday" premieres Nov . 23 on Netflix.

Fereydun Robert Armisen is an American actor, comedian, and writer. After having begun his career as a musician for groups such as Trenchmouth and the Blue Man Group, he would get his big break as a comedy actor when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live (1975) in 2002, having remained with the show until 2013. This led to Armisen collaborating with fellow SNL alum Bill Hader and Seth Meyers on the television series Documentary Now! (2015) for IFC, and would also collaborate with Carrie Brownstein on Portlandia (2011) for the same network. He is also known for his roles in various films and shows such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny (2006), and Easy A (2010), alongside voice roles in The Looney Tunes Show (2011), The Mitchells vs. the Machines (2021), The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017), and Final Space (2018), among others.

    • Trivia
Fred had thought that his Korean paternal grandfather was Japanese, until he discovered his origins on the show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (2012). His grandfather, known as Masami Ehara-Kuni, was a dancer and choreographer who performed in Nazi Germany during the 1930s and 1940s, and was also possibly a spy for the Allies. Masami was actually born Pak Yeong-In in Ulsan, Korea, and had taken on a Japanese name and persona after attending a Japanese school during the Japanese occupation of Korea. There is a museum dedicated to Masami in Japan.
