Biography

    • Tom is a producer - shooter - editor specializing in unscripted documentary, reality, factual TV, music video and branded content with both corporate and independent clientele as well as freelancing for major Canadian news networks.

      Tom has just wrapped filming a proof of concept for Netflix in Paris, Versailles and Calais. DOP'd for the Charley Pride documentary 'I'm Just Me' which aired on PBS for the 'American Masters Series' February 22nd, 2019 and will air on the CBC in Canada and on the BBC in the United Kingdom at a later date. Check local listings. Tom shot the Charlie Pride documentary in locations such as The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, Knoxville and Dallas, Texas. Tom was the DOP for the Indie film 'Day And Night' which is in post production. Tom pulled focus on a branded content production for Los Angeles corporate client merryjane.com, shooting with an Arri Alexa, Engenieux lenses and a bunch of other sweet gear under the direction of Ernesto Lomeli. Tom wrapped Cam-Op/Shooter services for a 13 part, teen documentary series called 'Comment Devenir Adulte', 'How to Become An Adult' with Wookie Films out of Winnipeg, while at the same time, shooting a constant stream of news segments for the networks.

      Tom owns the Sony FS7-MKII, the XDCA-FS7 extension, the 18-110mm power zoom lens as well as professional lighting and sound equipment. Cine lenses, other additional gear and crew are hired as needed.

      Tom's career began on the set of motion picture films as a production assistant when he was a teen. AD, AC and DIT have followed since. Tom has worked with actors George Kennedy, Kirk Douglas, Christopher Plummer, Nicholas Cage and Vigo Mortensen and with directors Willian Fruet, Karen Arthur, Charles Jarrott and Philip Ridley.

      Tom loves to travel - Anywhere - Anytime. He once shipped his SUV on a train from Cochrane to Moosonee in Ontario, Canada, and then drove the 300KM 'Ice-Road' to Fort Albany, Kashechewan and Attawapiskat. On another shoot he lived in a Dodge Caravan through -35 temps at Standing Rock in North Dakota during the access pipeline protests. On another project he flew on a C17 with a Canadian Forces DART deployment to the Philippines when Typhoon Hyan struck.

      Thomas Wayne Harris is a registered Ontario business with a current CARNET, a CAVCO number, a valid Canadian passport to travel freely, a current Ontario drivers license, St. Johns Standard and Emergency First Aid, a clear criminal record, a ton of immunizations through Walsh & Associates to stave off infectious diseases and to top that all off, both Tom and his gear are fully insured worldwide with A.J Gallagher.
