A city’s football heart is pounding! It’s the final day of the season and Manchester City and Manchester United are level on points as each go into their final game of the season. As the final whistle blows it’s the blue side of Manchester that’s celebrating a euphoric victory; their first in decades. United, however are left ruing their 1-2 defeat at home to Sunderland as City win the league by 2 points after a pulsating 4-3 victory over Newcastle United. If the events strike you as similar yet misleading, it may be because you are thinking of City’s 11/12 campaign victory, but this one was many years before even Sergio Aguero was born and well before the “billions” arrived! It was the time when Manchester City were crowned champions over their local rivals on the final day of the 67/68 Football League First Division season.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has extended his contract at Eastlands until 2018.
The whopping 6 year deal is just reward for the central defender, who was inspirational last season as he became the first captain to lead City to domestic glory since Tony Book in 1968. The Belgium international defender told the club website:
“For me, if you are good somewhere then there is no reason to look elsewhere. Man City is not just a project of the owners or the people employed by the club – it is also my project.
“I have been here since the beginning and I have seen everything at the club change inside and out. I have the feeling that I have contributed to it too. It is good to know that I can be at City for another six years. It is a compliment that the club feels so highly of me.
Hopefully, in the future...

Organisers of the McM Manchester Comic Con 2012 say the event enjoyed a record number of visitors.
More than 11,300 gamers, sci-fi fans, anime aficionados and comic collectors flocked through the doors of Manchester Central last weekend - almost double the attendance of 2011's inaugural event.
"We were delighted with 2011, but 2012 was so beyond our expectations," said Manchester Comic Con co-organiser Bryan Cooney. "We knew we would have a great show but the turnout was even greater than we expected.
"The atmosphere was wonderful. We look forward to returning to Manchester next year and hopefully an even bigger crowd and hall."
Manga UK's head of marketing and acquisitions Jerome Mazandarani said: "Manga loved attending McM Manchester Comic Con. It was our first, but won't be our last. It was excellently organised and very well attended. Manchester is an amazing city and its people are warm and friendly. It was a great atmosphere.
