Quiver Distribution announced today that it will be rereleasing writer and director Victor Nunez’s 1993 award-winning film “Ruby in Paradise” in a new HD master that was fully restored from the original camera rolls and audio tracks and looks and sounds better than ever before. Ashley Judd leads in her first starring role, along with Todd Field, Bentley Mitchum, Allison Dean, and Dorothy Lyman. “Ruby in Paradise” will be available via Virtual Cinemas as well as to rent and own on North American digital HD internet, cable and satellite platforms through Quiver on February 16, 2021. We hope you're hungry for some McDowell's, as Coming to America star John Amos is now confirmed to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel. Dubbed Coming 2 America, the follow-up brings back Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall as Prince Akeem and Semmi, respectively. James Earl Jones has also been reported to be back as King Jaffe Joffer along with Paul Bates reprising Oha, the king's loyal servant. Also reported to be featured in new roles in the sequel are Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Jermaine Fowler, rapper Rick Ross, and Kiki Layne as Akeem's daughter.

A sequel to the 1988 romantic comedy “Coming to America” may be in the works. According to TMZ, sources close to Eddie Murphy confirm that the comedian is in the early writing stages of the project. On Wednesday night, a post on Murphy’s official Twitter account teased a potential sequel to his iconic film. “Coming to America sequel?” was all the post said, and included a picture of Vanessa Bell Calloway in character from the first film. Murphy’s Twitter account has since been deleted.

Calloway reacted to the possibility of Murphy working on a sequel. “I would love to do a sequel, I loved the movie. It’s like, ‘Come on Eddie, let’s make this happen!'” the actress told TMZ, but also wondered if Murphy’s account was hacked.
