- From 1993 to 1998 he performed at L.A. venues such as The Comedy Store with his improv troupe "Are You Talkin' Ta Me?".
- He began his acting career in New York where he appeared in many Rap music videos, almost always playing the antagonist to the musical artist.

- Robert has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management from New York University. He also has a Certificate in Filmmaking from NYU's School of Continuing Education.
- He won a cash prize for a sketch that he co-wrote and performed with actor K.C. Marsh on America's Funniest People (1990).
- His first role in Hollywood was playing Bill Black, Elvis Presley's original bass player, which he performed with a broken finger. After strumming the bass for a day of shooting, it took an extra month for the finger to heal.
- Robert's brother is film and television writer Larry DiTillio.
- His parents, Gabriel and Katherine DiTillio, owned an amusement park where Robert spent many hours as a child.
- As a teen, portrayed the 'Han Solo' character in an 8mm parody of 'Star Wars.'.
- In the seventh episode of the third season of The Sopranos. When Drea de Matteo's character, Adriana, is talking about the famous people she has slept with, she claims to have had sex with Robert DiTillio.
