Horst Ehmke was born on February 4, 1927 in Free City of Danzig [now Gdansk, Pomorskie, Poland]. He was married to Maria Hlavacova and Theda. He died on March 12, 2017 in Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
West German political figure. He helped chancellor Willy Brandt to implement a "detente" policy with the Communist bloc--especially East Germany--known as "Ostpolitik".
