A&E has ordered two more seasons of its docuseries “60 Days In,” which will move from Indiana to Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail for its next editions.
“60 Days In: Atlanta” will premiere Thursday, March 2, at 9 p.m. Et. The show will once again focus on innocent participants who are sent inside jail and treated like any other inmate, in order to get a sense of what life is like inside the pokey.

“60 Days In,” which airs its season finale Thursday night, follows seven people as they go undercover as inmates in Indiana’s Clark County Jail. Only the Sheriff and a handful of other officials know that there are actual non-offenders in their midst; the inmates, guards and most other officials assume the cameras are there to shoot a documentary on first-time offenders.
Two production teams operate on the ground: A control room team, operating robo-cameras 24 hours a day; and an electronic news gathering (Eng) team that actually goes into the jail pods and interacts with the inmates and guards. The International Documentary Association (Ida) announced nominations for the 2014 Ida Documentary Awards today, with awards being bestowed December 5th at the Paramount Theatre on the studio lot. The top films nominated in the best feature category include the critically-acclaimed Citizenfour from filmmaker Laura Poitras about Edward Snowden and the state of surveillance of civilians post 9/11 which has been enjoying a theatrical run and Nick Broomfield’s Tales Of The Grim Sleeper about the serial killer who terrorized South Central Los Angeles over 25 years. In the limited series category is Playtone’s CNN doc The Sixties, among others. Best episodic include Oprah Winfrey’s Master Class and HBO’s Vice exec produced by Bill Maher (and others). In addition, Robert Redford will receive the Career Achievement award from the Ida.

Better This World, The Tiniest Place and the other nominations for the 2011 Ida Awards have been announced. The 27th Annual Ida Awards (documentary awards) are presented by the International Documentary Association (Ida) “a non-profit organization promoting documentary film, video and new media, to support the efforts of documentary filmmaking and video production makers around the world and to increase public appreciation and demand for the art of the documentary…the Ida has approximately 2,800 members in 53 countries, providing a forum for supporters and suppliers of documentary film making.”
This years presentation will see “the 2011 Career Achievement Award [awarded] to legendary documentary filmmaker Les Blank. He will be presented his award by Werner Herzog. Director Danfung Dennis (Hell and Back Again) will receive the 2011 Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award.”
