Jane Elliot in General Hospital (1963)
Gh Spoilers: Tracy Intrigued By Sidwell’s Flirting-Is She A Bum Magnet?
Jane Elliot in General Hospital (1963)
General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) may be a bum magnet-she’s intrigued by Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) flirting with her-will he be yet another one on her list?

Every single one of Tracy’s ex husbands have either been a con man, a crime lord, a drug dealer-except Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) and he wasn’t an angel either!

Sidwell Was Obviously Flirting

Sidwell was obviously flirting with Tracy in a recent scene, getting right down in her face and saying how much they have in common.

However, he’d been trying to sell Deception Cosmetics a mineral he mines-or at least he says he does-Tracy turned him down flat at the first meeting.

However, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) kept on pushing it-regardless of his motives to act flirtatious with Tracy, she seems flattered!

She knows that he was responsible for Lucky Spencer’s...

Like Crazy – review
Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin are the on-and-off-again couple in a relationship drama that is everything One Day wasn't

The genius of the online spoof paper the Onion has never been clearer than in this story, headlined 18-Year-Old Miraculously Finds Soulmate in Hometown: "In a miracle that defies statistical probability, Corey Muntner, 18, reported Monday that he found his soulmate, Tammy Gaska, right in his very own hometown … Relationship experts estimate that the chances of meeting someone in your lifetime that you fully connect with on a spiritual, intellectual, and physical level are one in 2.3bn, making the geographic proximity of the soulmates nothing short of astonishing."

I thought of the Onion's report while watching this low-key, unassumingly intelligent movie about romance and bad timing, from indie director Drake Doremus. This is what One Day should have been. Felicity Jones plays Anna, a British college student in Los Angeles who falls for an American,...

Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin in Like Crazy (2011)
Like Crazy Blu-ray and DVD Debuts March 6th
Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin in Like Crazy (2011)
Called "crazily inventive and totally irresistible" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone), the touching, beautiful and romantic drama Like Crazy debuts March 6, 2012 on Blu-ray and DVD with UltraViolet, for Digital Download and On Demand from Paramount Home Media Distribution. Director Drake Doremus expertly captures the thrilling exuberance and heartbreaking fragility of first love in "the rare love story that honestly conveys the giddy joys and sorrows of two people besotted with each other" (Claudia Puig, USA Today). Featuring "star-making performances" (Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times) by the incandescent Felicity Jones - who was given Breakthrough Awards by the National Board of Review and the Gotham Awards, as well as a Special Jury Prize at Sundance for her performance - and the terrifically earnest Anton Yelchin - who received a Spotlight Award at the Hollywood Film Festival and Special Recognition for a Breakthrough Performance at the Hamptons International Film Festival - Like Crazy...

‘Like Crazy’ suffers from its singular, one-track vision
Like Crazy

Directed by Drake Doremus

United States, 2011

The romance is a dying film genre. The large majority of romantic films are hybrids – romantic comedies, romantic thrillers – but the straightforward romance doesn’t raise its head as frequently its other long-standing genre counterparts. Drake Doremus’ sophomore film, the Sundance hit Like Crazy, is therefore a bit of an anomaly in 2011.

Jacob (Anton Yelchin) is a furniture designing college senior who falls head over heels for his poetic classmate Anna (Felicity Jones). When summer looms Anna decides, in the heat of the moment, to overstay her visa. Unable to return to the United States because of the violation, the two embark on a rocky on-again, off-again cross-continental relationship.

Featuring a beautiful, hip cast, Like Crazy finds a cinematic cousin in 2009’s (500) Days of Summer. Unlike that film, Doremus’ effort is less interested in its color scheme, filmic homage, and all-out coolness,...

Like Crazy

Directed by: Drake Doremus

Cast: Felicity Jones, Anton Yelchin, Jennifer Lawrence

Running Time:

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: November 11, 2011

Plot: A British college student (Jones) falls in love with an American (Yelchin), but problems with her visa separate them and now they must try to figure out exactly what they have together.

Who’S It For? If you like your film romances with a realistic/authentic slant, that should be enough for you to enjoy this film.

Expectations: I knew nothing about this film except Yelchin was in it. While that didn’t have me sold, I have liked just about everything he’s done.

Read Nick Allen’s interview with Jones & Yelchin

Overall

This isn’t what it felt like when I fell in love. Luckily, that is for me and my wife to hold on to. But Like Crazy does feel like love, specifically young love. It...

Film Review: ‘Like Crazy’ Exposes Sweet Sorrow of Young Love
Chicago – The young love affair, that first one that breaks through the heart, mind and biological objectives, is the memory that never really goes away. Sometimes it works out for a lifetime, sometimes it ends. Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones play out this oft-remembered experience in “Like Crazy.”

Rating: 3.5/5.0

Fighting all the outside factors against their long distance relationship, the couple goes through the whole emotional spectrum in this story, an in-the-now tale encompassing immigrations laws (on a different level) and the distractions of simply being young and apart in the current era. Yelchin and Jones have a terrific understanding of the motivations necessary in making something like this work, and their performances are raw, honest and heart-breaking.

Right near the end of their college days, Jacob (Anton Yelchin) and Anna (Felicity Jones) begin a relationship that almost immediately morphs into love. The problem is the time running out at the end of the semester,...

Like Crazy – The Review
The title of the new film Like Crazy refers to the tumult of emotions that overwhelm the senses during the rush of attraction that blossoms into love ( particularly amongst the under thirty crowd ). With these two leads we’re probably not talking about first love as they’re just about to finish college. Still the intensity of their feelings practically explode off the screen. But like most examples of romantic cinema this couple’s journey is not an easy one.

The plot of the film almost follows the old cliché movie love story structure / formula : boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy loses girl, etcetera. A college writing major from England, Emma (Felicity Jones) becomes smitten with the professor’s student assistant, Jake (Anton Yelchin), a furniture designer, while attending school in Los Angeles. She leaves a note with her number (and a poem) on his car windshield.

Interview: Felicity Jones, Drake Doremus Aim For Authenticity in Festival Hit ‘Like Crazy’
Chicago – From the moment filmmaker Drake Doremus and actress Felicity Jones won big at the Sundance Film Festival, their film “Like Crazy” has been garnering a good deal of award season buzz. Jones’ star-making portrayal of Anna, a British college student attempting to sustain a long-distance relationship with her American boyfriend, Jacob (Anton Yelchin), has become the focus of media hype that threatens to drown out the film itself.

What makes the picture stand out from the crowd is its structure. As the helmer of indie gems “Spooner” and “Douchebag,” Doremus has a background in crafting richly layered character studies on a tight budget. “Like Crazy” sidesteps the moments audiences are used to seeing in a romantic narrative in favor of nuances and textures that convey much more than mere plot points. Doremus beautifully depicts the push and pull of a relationship struggling to stay alive against the odds. Each...

Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin in Like Crazy (2011)
Like Crazy Movie Review
Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin in Like Crazy (2011)
Title: Like Crazy Director: Drake Doremus Starring: Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Bewley, Alex Kingston, Chris Messina, Ben York Jones, Oliver Muirhead The Grand Jury Prize winner at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the achingly well constructed “Like Crazy” is an evocative coming-of-age romance that pointedly sidesteps the Hollywood contrivances of so many relationship movies, and instead delivers a portrait of sincere young love that is perhaps not meant to last forever. Perceptive, and told with style but not unnecessary flash by director Drake Doremus, the film is well acted all around, but is anchored by a breakout performance from Felicity Jones. The story opens in Los Angeles, where design student Jacob (Anton...

[Viff Review] Like Crazy
How much is one summer of euphoric love worth? To Jacob (Anton Yelchin) and Anna (Felicity Jones)—the world. Courted through a shy, sweet process of stolen looks and a mix of intellectual and sexual longing, these two college students begin a whirlwind affair without regard for the legalities of her eventual return to England once her student visa expires. Bureaucratic nonsense like that couldn’t be farther from their minds as a relationship builds, improves, and cements itself as the great true love story of their lives. But when the time comes for her return home—just a two-month summer—lust, love, and desire keep her from leaving. It’s an error of judgment that will follow them for almost a half decade.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, Drake Doremus‘ Like Crazy has a wonderful handle on the present day angst of love and the troublesome...

BFI 55th London Film Festival ‘Like Crazy’ a passing infatuation rather than a timeless romance
Like Crazy

Director: Drake Doremus

Writers: Drake Doremus, Ben York Jones

2011, USA

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, Drake Doremus’s Like Crazy is the story of a transatlantic love affair that falls foul of the visa regulations. It doesn’t pay to get on the wrong side of Us Immigration — even when you’re as young, cute and mutually infatuated as Jacob and Anna.

Like Crazy begins in an La classroom, when British student Anna (Felicity Jones) takes a fancy to curly haired Jacob (Anton Yelchin). She’s an aspiring writer and he’s a budding furniture designer. In a pleasingly old-fashioned touch, she declares her feelings in a long, heartfelt note left on his car windscreen. In no time at all they’re sharing a bed and a love of Paul Simon’s Graceland.

Unable to bear the thought of returning to London alone, Anna stays...

Like Crazy Sundance Review
Tweet It seemed that all anyone was talking about opening weekend at Park City was Like Crazy. Of course, Red State hadn’t been screened yet, and Kevin Smith hadn’t already acted a damn fool. But that’s besides the point. Everyone is really excited about Like Crazy. Including me. The film is Drake Doremus’s follow up to last year’s Douchebag which was also at the festival. In Like Crazy, he’s spun an expansively beautiful love story between two college students, one American, and one British. Anton Yelchin plays the American Jacob, studying to design furniture, where he meets the English Anna (a great breakout role for Felicity Jones). The two spend their college life blissfully in love, their most disconcerting problem being the question, “what are we going to do after graduation?” Because Anna overstays her student visa, after a brief trip home from a wedding,...

‘Like Crazy’

(from the 2011 Sundance Film Festival)

Directed by: Drake Doremus

Written by: Drake Doremus and Ben York Jones

Starring: Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Bewley, Alex Kingston, Oliver Muirhead and Finola Hughes

Maybe it’s the inorganic interruption in their relationship that haunts Jacob and Anna. If their passionate love for one another had played out in a natural way, it might have flamed out, or they might have stayed together forever — at least they’d know. Instead, the protagonists of “Like Crazy” find their lives caught in a loop — unable to forget the magic that they shared but also attached to the lives they lived in each other’s absence.

Drake Doremus’ film follows the lives of two college students who fall in spectacular young love then face a torturous obstacle. Anna (Felicity Jones) is a budding English writer studying abroad in Los Angeles,...

Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin in Like Crazy (2011)
Like Crazy Picked Up by Paramount
Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin in Like Crazy (2011)
Paramount has acquired the new Drake Doremus movie Like Crazy, after its world premiere on Saturday at the Sundance Film Festival.

The studio paid $4 million for the worldwide rights to the indie romance, which stars Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, and Jennifer Lawrence. The story follows a young American man and a young British woman who fall for each other, until she is deported back to England after overstaying her visa.

Like Crazy played very well at its Saturday night world premiere at the Eccles Theater and a bidding war sparked soon after the screening ended. The Weinstein Company and Summit Entertainment were among the other bidders vying for the rights to Like Crazy.

Like Crazy comes to theaters in 2011 and stars Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Bewley, Alex Kingston, Oliver Muirhead, Finola Hughes, Chris Messina. The film is directed by Drake Doremus.

The Notable Films of 2011: Part Eight
Kaboom

Opens: 2011

Cast: Thomas Dekker, Haley Bennett, Juno Temple, Kelly Lynch, James Duval

Director: Gregg Araki

Summary: Smith's everyday life in the dorm - hanging out with his arty, sarcastic best friend Stella, hooking up with a beautiful free spirit named London, lusting for his gorgeous but dim surfer roommate Thor - all gets turned upside-down after one fateful, terrifying night.

Analysis: A year after "Thelma and Louise" came "The Living End", an independent film which had a similar premise but made the protagonists two gay HIV+ men. It was raw, intense and signalled the arrival of a new talent in the form of filmmaker Gregg Araki. In the subsequent two decades, he's delivered several trippy films involving young, good-looking omnisexual people having lots of graphic sex and dealing with some wacky cobbled together plot shenanigans.

The tone has ranged the light-hearted "Splendor" and "Nowhere" to the darker "Mysterious Skin...
