Prior to become an actor, he was the host of a pre- and post-baseball game TV show for the Baltimore Orioles and later had his own sports program in Washington, DC.
He made his Broadway debut in 1955 in the musical "Plain and Fancy."
Other Broadway performances were "Conversations With My Father" and "Dylan."
He also appeared in the City Center revivals of "South Pacific, " "Plaza Suite" and "Marilyn."
His last stage performance was in 1999 in "Lake Hollywood."
