Earlier this year, his other grandson Mn Dipak Nambiar released a book on him titled Nambiarswami: The good, the bad & the holy. The veteran actor, who passed away in 2008, kept audiences enthralled with his unparalleled style in Tamil cinema, all through the years that he worked with stars like Mgr and Sivaji. Nambiar’s off screen fame, however, is entirely different from what we know of him from films. In his 100th year, Tnm remembers the iconic star. A comedian turns villain Nambiar, who was born in Kerala, began his acting career when he was just about 12 years old, performing in stage plays.

KollywoodOn November 16, which is the third Friday of the month, Tfpc has permitted the release of four films – 'Sei', 'Uththravu Maharaja', 'Kaatrin Mozhi' and 'Chithiram Pesuthadi 2'.Digital NativeAccording to a new rule imposed by the Tamil Film Producers Council, only small budget films can be released on the first and third Fridays of the month. On November 16, which is the third Friday, the Tfpc has permitted the release of four movies – Sei, Uththravu Maharaja, Kaatrin Mozhi and Chithiram Pesuthadi 2. While the four films are gearing up for release, news surfaced that Vijay Antony’s Thimiru Pudichavan will also be out at the theatres on the same day. This film was supposed to be a Diwali release but was postponed for various reasons. Being a high budget film, the Tfpc hasn’t given clearance for Thimiru Pudichavan to release on November 16 as it would affect the prospects of other movies at the box office.

The film is the Tamil remake of the Hindi film Tumhari Sulu with Jyothika reprising the role played by Vidya Balan in the original. The two-minute trailer shows Jyothika playing Vijayalakshmi Balakrishnan, a homemaker, who ends up becoming a radio jockey (Rj) quite by chance. Jyothika’s attempts to modulate her voice so that it sounds sultry are quite hilarious in the trailer. Due to deteriorating health, the actor was admitted at a private hospital in Vadavalli, Coimbatore where he breathed his last. He was 74. Kovai Senthil has appeared in supporting roles in many Tamil films. The actor was seen in Cs Amudhan’s 2010 spoof film Tamizh Padam, playing the role of Nattamai (village head). The director shared his memory of the scene on Twitter writing that Kovai Senthil had completed the shot in one take.
