András Ötvös leads the cast of the filmmaker’s second feature film, a Filmfabriq and Little Bus production set to be sold by Nfi World Sales. Having kicked off on 29 December, filming on Christmas Flame (Nagykarácsony) by Daniel Tiszeker is progressing in Budapest where it is set to wrap mid-March. After making quite an impression with his debut feature #Sohavegetnemeros, a comedy produced independently which proved to be something of a "sleeper" in 2016 and ultimately walked away with the 2017 Audience Prize at the Hungarian Film Awards, the filmmaker has this time assembled a cast led by András Ötvös and Emöke Zsigmond (who was also in on the act for Tiszeker’s #Sohavegetnemeros).Stealing similar focus in the cast are Péter Scherer (Kincsem – Bet on Revenge), Lia Pokorny (Well), Tamás...
Szabolcs Thuróczy and young Mór Pásztor-Várady topline this feature being produced by Filmteam, Grund and Blue Duck Arts. The shoot for Daddy and Other Wolves, co-directed by Gábor Rohonyi and Csaba Vékes (2017's Beyond the Column), kicked off in Budapest on 22 June. The cast includes Szabolcs Thuróczy (giving a strong performance in Kills on Wheels and set to be seen soon in Bullhorn Lullaby), the young Mór Pásztor-Várady, Patrícia Kovács (nominated for the Best Actress Award at the 2016 Hungarian Film Week for Demimonde), Csaba Vékes himself, Anna Pálmai, Ferenc Elek, Zoltán Mucsi, Péter Scherer, Juli Básti and Bence Tasnádi. Written by Csaba Vékes, the story depicts an unexpected encounter between a writer who is popular but bereft of inspiration, and his little son, whom he has never seen before. This twisted, cheerful and emotional story...

(See the roundups from our own David Hudson here and here.) There's a lot to discuss, from the issues addressed by the film to the bravura performances by a cast led by the spectacular Edgar Ramírez in the title role. While there are more than a few artists who are either uncomfortable with or inept at discussing their work, Assayas, once a film critic himself, is not one of them. So when I sat down with him to talk Carlos and Carlos, I knew he'd have plenty to say, and now I think, for the purposes of this piece, I should just let him say it. Regent Releasing and Here Media have just announced that they will distribute "The Art of Being Straight" in North America. The comedy from Great Graffiti Films will be sent out to select cities on June 5th this year. Jesse Rosen made his directorial and writing debut on the project which recently won the Audience Award at the 2009 Dublin Glbt Film Festival. Malvern Productions' Laurence Ducceschi, Amy Wasserman and Ursula Camack produce. "The Art of Being Straight" explores the too often strict boundaries of being gay or straight from the perspective of today's younger generation. Jon (Jesse Rosen), a twenty-something who after a break-up with his girlfriend, moves to L.A. for a fresh start. Crashing on his buddy's (Jared Grey) couch, Jon regresses to the comforting college student lifestyle of partying, womanizing and sexist trash talk. Reconnecting with his old fling Maddy (Rachel Castillo) proves to be surprising when she introduces him to her girlfriend.
