Famous for his larger-than-life roles in classic films like Rocky and Rambo and, of course, his good looks, Sylvester Stallone’s family has also shared some of his famous spotlights along the way. Did you know that his real life is just as fascinating as his character on screen?
The relationship between his father, Frank Stallone Sr., and his mother, Jackie Stallone, has been quite interesting. Eventually, Stallone’s mother had had enough. The unceasing squawking, the feathers all over the place, and most of all, the uncooked sparrows were becoming intolerable to the late astrologist.
Sylvester Stallone in Cobra (1986)
Indeed, his mother had gone extremely crazy over her ex-husband’s strange obsession with “raw sparrows” and “rabbit entrails”. The Guardian reported that Stallone’s late father used to consume “raw sparrows and rabbit entrails” and resembled a caveman. The actor’s mother, who was presumably sick of sparrows and entrails,...

“Do I have regrets?” asks Sylvester Stallone at the beginning of “Sly,” the Thom Zimny documentary about him that served as the closing-night film at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday. “Hell yeah, I have regrets.”
Putting that quote up front is a smart way to introduce a film about the man whose career sometimes seems to have resulted in equal parts iconography and mockery. The actor, screenwriter and director created the classic characters Rocky Balboa and John Rambo, but struggled to find respect and made more than his share of terrible films.
Another smart move: New conversations with Stallone run throughout the film, but these are not the usual talking-head interviews in which the subject sits in a chair and runs through his life. Instead, Stallone almost always talks to the camera while standing up and moving around.

Netflix has released the trailer to their new show Glow, from the producers of Orange Is The New Black. The show, set in the 80's, stars Alison Brie as Ruth Wilder, a struggling actress who auditions for a new professional wrestling company, Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Marc Maron also stars as the head of the Glow organization, Sam Sylvia.
The show is based on the real life wrestling organization of the same name. In the 80's, struggling promotors were looking to copy what they felt made the WWF so popular during that era. Filmed in Las Vegas and having such luminaries as Jackie Stallone, Sylvester Stallone's mother, involved, the show was the product of too much cocaine. Everything that was bad and cliche in the 80's this show used and abused to bad effect. While you can look back at other wrestling companies of that era and find good...

The first set of images of Alison Brie in the Netflix all-female wrestling comedy G.L.O.W. have been released and they look as if they could fit in well with a version of the 80’s classic Flashdance. Legwarmers, leotards and all.

G.L.O.W. has (leg) locked up their lead. Deadline is reporting that former Community star and current BoJack Horseman voice Alison Brie is set to play the lead in the upcoming Netflix series based on the 1980s women’s pro wrestling league. The show is being produced by Orange Is the New Black head Jenji Kohan. The publication explains that in G.L.O.W., Brie will play Ruth “an out-of-work, struggling actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling.” Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the show. Brie commented on the announcement with perhaps a word of warning to her future in-ring competitors by writing on Twitter, “Look out…” G.L.O.W., which was short for Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, ran from 1986-1990 with a few incarnations in the years since. It featured characters with names like The California Doll,...

Kris Jenner manages reality television's first family and heads up multiple lifestyle brands – but she's not quite as savvy at reading autocue.
The star was presenting the Multichannel prize at the National Television Awards tonight (January 21) – and, quite frankly, it was a real struggle.
Jenner initially sent social media into a frenzy by mistakenly referring to Geordie Shore as "Georgie Shore" while reading the Multichannel Award nominees.
The trouble went on for Jenner as she stopped reading when the video package detailing the nominees continued, leading the camera to switch back to her after several seconds of silence.
Jenner stared into the camera for a few seconds, before finally running off the final two nominees The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

Alexander O'Neal has revealed his reasoning for quitting Celebrity Big Brother following his dramatic departure over the weekend.
The singer became embroiled in two unpleasant confrontations with showbiz blogger Perez Hilton, which resulted in a formal warning from Big Brother over O'Neal's use of an offensive term.
Speaking to CBB host Emma Willis on Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side, Alexander revealed why he walked, saying: "I did it for myself and for my housemates."
He added that "the stress became unbearable" prior to his exit, and was subsequently forced to accept that the 'Perez problem' was not going to go away.
But Alexander is not the only disgruntled celebrity housemate to voluntarily leave, and we doubt he'll be the last.
Some, like Claire King, withdrew from the show due to illness, while others have been removed by producers.
But can you remember some of the former CBB stars...

Plastic surgery enthusiast Jackie Stallone has finally admitted what most of us were already thinking: she may have overdone it.

Stallone's changing face has been the subject of public scrutiny for years. After the "Expendables 2" premiere in 2012, the media and photographers mistook Ivone Weldon, mother of producer Les Weldon, for Jackie -- Ivon's another Hollywood mum who has clearly gone under the knife.

Years ago, Sylvester Stallone paid off his half-sister, Toni-Ann Filiti, to keep quiet over her allegations that the actor had abused her for years.
Documents obtained by the New York Post show that in 1987 the action star agreed to give Filiti $12 million plus an additional $16,666.66 per month for the duration of her lifetime, with a $50,000 a year trust for psychiatric and medical expenses.
According to the papers, the actor's late half-sister, who died in August from lung cancer, “asserted claims for personal injury, including physical injury” against Stallone, who denied and continues to deny all her claims. Sources told the Post that the star was a victim of blackmail -- a claim that is being backed up by the actor and Filiti's mother, Jacqueline Stallone.
“This was nothing more than a shakedown,” Jacqueline told the paper, adding that her daughter was a drug addict who would do anything for money,...

Back in July, the 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone was found dead at his apartment in Hollywood. At the time, it was believed that Sage Stallone passed away due to an overdose of pills, which were found at his home. It was also unclear whether his death was a suicide or accidental. And now, according to the La Country Coroner, Sage's death was accidental. The report says no drugs were found in his system and that he actually died from a heart attack. The coroner said that there was clear evidence of heart disease. Sage made his acting debut opposite his father in "Rocky V," playing the role of Rocky's son Robert Balboa. He appeared with his dad again in "Daylight," and went on to direct, produce and write. And just a few weeks after Sage's death, Sylvester Stallone's 48-year-old half-sister Toni Ann Filiti passed away from lung cancer.

Sylvester Stallone's half-sister Toni Ann Filiti has died, aged 48. Filiti was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year and was reported to be recuperating at the home of Sylvester's mother Jackie Stallone. Jackie has now confirmed to the New York Daily News that the cancer spread to Toni Ann's brain and ultimately took her life on Sunday (August 26). "I was holding her in my arms. I had just washed [her] face and told her how pretty she looked, and she just fell asleep," Jackie recalled. Jackie went on to express her grief that Filiti died not long after the tragic passing of Sylvester's son Sage Stallone at age 36. "She's (more)...

The personal loss keeps piling up for Sylvester Stallone. Stallone's half-sister, Toni-Ann Filiti, died Sunday night at age 48 after a long fight with lung cancer, RadarOnline.com reported. Filiti had left UCLA Medical Center to move in with their mother, Jackie Stallone, as death became imminent.
"It was somewhat expected," a source told the website.
On July 13, Sylvester Stallone's son Sage died at 36 of yet-to-be determined causes. Results of an autopsy are due out soon.
Stallone, 66, had told outlets that the death of his son was "very tough" but promoting his new film "The Expendables 2" had at least kept him busy. He spent early August in France with wife Jennifer Flavin and their three daughters, but was spotted looking grim-faced while walking in Beverly Hills with daughters Scarlet Rose and Sistine Rose yesterday, the Daily Mail reported.
Filiti entered UCLA's intensive care unit on August 10, where doctors had "done everything.

Jackie Stallone debuted her striking new plastic surgery at the 'Expendables 2' film premiere last night (16.08.12). The 90-year-old astrologer took to the red carpet alongside her son Sylvester Stallone - who stars in the action movie - at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles and renewed speculation that her secret to still looking younger than her years may not be entirely natural by flaunting her excessively large lips. Jackie appeared to be sporting the result of a fresh batch of collagen injections, and the grandmother - who has been married three times - also donned a short black skirt, plunging blouse and high heels as she pouted for pictures in front of the paparazzi. She...

Mystery still surrounds the death of actor Sage Stallone, son of Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, two days after being found dead at his Los Angeles apartment at the age of 36.
The actor will be remembered mostly by his portrayal of Robert Balboa – son of Rocky in the fifth iteration of the boxing series in 1990. He again starred alongside his father in 1996 disaster film “Daylight” as Vincent, a young con-artist.
Milo Ventimiglia would later portray the elder Robert Balboa in 2006 movie Rocky 6.
His last appearance was in short film “The Agent” in 2010, and before that, in the same year, drama “Promises Written in Water“, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was shown at the Toronto Film Festival, though was not released in cinemas.

Celebrity Big Brother is a very special thing, in that it’s basically The Surreal Life + Celebrity Rehab x European Weirdness. It’s so weird over there, you guys. But it’s also so wonderful, because, once upon a time, Jackie Stallone entered the house — basically an Ikea set with artificial lighting and zero clocks — and everyone was dressed like they were at a Renaissance Fair, and she was Queen. (To be fair, she had no idea where she was because she’s very, very old and probably shouldn’t have been there in the first place, but that’s #thepriceoffame.) Nevertheless, this Crazy Train just keeps on a’chugging, as evidenced by this video of pale, Irish twin pop stars Jedward putting on diapers and acting like giant babies. That’s just how things go down in the Big Brother house, okay? It makes Jersey Shore look like an educational summit,...

George Galloway pretending to be a cat alongside Rula Lenska has been named Celebrity Big Brother fans' 'Most Memorable Moment'. In a poll carried out by YouGov for Channel 5's Ok! TV, a sample of 302 viewers were asked to choose from a list of events from past series. The winning moment, which secured 24% of the vote, came during the 2006 series when actress Lenska asked the then-mp to assist her in preparing for a task. Galloway proceeded to mimic a cat, purring and licking imaginary milk from her hands. Watch George Galloway pretending to be a cat below: Jackie Stallone's shock entrance to the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2005 finished second, with 17% choosing her arrival as their most memorable moment. Remember when TLC was called The Learning Channel? Maybe a hundred years ago, you could watch shows that taught you how to, I dunno, paint mugs and play Rummikub or something, but now, it’s all about Weirdos And Freaks. Seriously, turn on that show any time of day, and you’re likely to be confronted with a transsexual dwarf who lives with 12 children inside a shoe, where he secretly hoards Twix bars. The newest member of TLC’s dysfunctional family of lunatics is Riley, a 25-year-old women from Upstate New York who appears on My Strange Addiction because she is an Adult Baby. It’s exactly what you think it is: she wears diapers, sucks on a pacifier, sleeps in a crib, and almost definitely sh*ts her pants. To her credit, Riley looks pretty good in pigtails, although she’s no Jackie Stallone. [via Buzzfeed]...

Can you guess the best show on Oprah’s TV network, Own? Sure, The Gayle King Show is fun. And Our America With Lisa Ling is fascinating, as is Master Class. But the best show on the flailing channel is easily Oprah 25: Behind The Scenes, an incredibly rewarding peek into Oprah’s life at her production company and what went into the final season of Oprah’s talk show. Even though it’s a reality show, it doesn’t possess that layer of filth that accompanies most “documentary-style” garbage since there’s really no one to hate. It’s pretty fun. Plus, Oprah’s dog is gorgeous. Meanwhile, the network boasts other reality shows that focus on The Judds, Sarah Ferguson, and Ryan and Tatum O’Neal. So, basically, everyone has a reality show now. You will have a reality show, and it will be about how you — like Sinbad,...

If we could have five guests from all of history over for dinner, these would be our choices: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Bea Arthur, Jesus, and probably Jackie Stallone. That was until we saw this video of Dolly Parton welcoming summer by teaching us about cicadas, and also being just all-around adorable. Just the way she reacts to the fake bees buzzing around her head? Priceless. So, yes, if we were to revise the list, it would probably be Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Bea Arthur, Jesus, and Dolly Parton. But would it be okay if Jackie Stallone stopped by for dessert? [via This Is Fyf] – Eliot Glazer...

What is your role on Celebrity Big Brother?
I’m the Executive Producer. My role is to come up with a vision for the show – the look and the feel of it, to put a cast together and steer a way through it. I work closely with Phil (Philip Edgar Jones), the creative director, and oversee all the different elements of it. We look after the launch show, nominations, how we change things, the tasks, and hopefully deliver a compelling show.
This being the last ever Celebrity Big Brother, are there plans afoot to give it a spectacular send-off?
I hope so! We’ve tried really hard to look at the show with fresh eyes to assess what we can improve upon, and what we can change, especially with this being the last one. We have introduced some changes, in the house, in the tasks, and with the launch show,...

After splashing out $13 million on a house for his mother - Sylvester Stallone's mom has turned it down. Sly forked out the breathtaking sum to secure the house next door to his own mansion in California. He has always been close to extrovert mom Jackie Stallone and hoped that she would accept his gift. But the red-haired septuagenarian snubbed his gift, because she didn't like the luxury pad. Jackie said she would prefer to stay in her one-bedroom apartment in Santa Monica than live on Sly's exclusive estate.
