Trivia
After the war he had to have one of his legs amputated. He continued to act with the use of a prosthetic leg.
Beginning in 1928 toured the United States, Canada and Egypt with the New Shakespearean Company of Strafford-on-Avon.
Was pressed into acting while working as a stage decorator at the Old Vic.
Won a Military Cross while serving in the Royal Garrison Artillery during World War I.
