    He and three of his brothers were U.S. Coast Guard cameraman during World War II. The four eventually went on to form a news photography business; that exists to this day as large archive. His grandfather James Watson shot pictures of Buffalo Bill riding up Broadway in 1904. An uncle George Watson was the first full time news photographer hired by the Los Angeles Times in 1917.
