During the early 2000s X-Men: Evolution reimagined the popular Marvel Comics team for a younger audience. The animated series ran for 52 episodes across four seasons and was the first introduction to Mutants for an entirely new generation of superhero fans. However, the series failed to bring to life one of the X-Men’s deadliest foes.
Mr. Sinister as depicted in Marvel Comics
Despite its long run on air and interesting roster of X-Men characters, X-Men: Evolution could not introduce the terrifying Mr. Sinister, which would have preceded the character’s appearance in the more recent but retro-style animated X-Men ’97 series. Here is everything you need to know about plans for Mr. Sinister’s introduction in X-Men: Evolution and why it never materialized.

This article contains mild spoilers for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."
Aaron Horvath's and Michael Jelenic's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" contains multiple, perhaps-obvious, pop music cues that accent the film's many action sequences. Early in the film, when Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) have to traverse a dangerous Brooklyn street on the way to a much-needed plumbing job, The Beastie Boys' 1987 hit "No Sleep Till Brooklyn," from their album "Licensed to Ill" plays on the soundtrack. The line "Our manager's crazy, he always smokes dust" is tactfully omitted. Later in the film, when Mario, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) have to build and drive their own high-octane go-karts, the opening rock strains of AC/DC's 1990 song "Thunderstruck," punctuates the construction.
Both of these music cues have some thematic logic. The more baffling needle drop is the placement of A-ha's 1985 chart-topper "Take on Me,...

Sterling Lord, who represented Jimmy Breslin, Art Buchwald, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gordon Parks and most famously, Jack Kerouac, died Saturday in Ocala, Fla. He was 102 and his death was confirmed by his daughter, Rebecca Lord. No cause was given.
The list of literary greats represented by Lord over his long career included Frank Deford, David Wise, Nicolas Pileggi, Delores Kearns Goodwin, Joe McGinniss, Pete Gent, Pete Axthelm, and more. But it was Kerouac’s book that is likely his lasting legacy, sold for 1,000 after four years of trying. It went on to sell more than five million copies.
Lord was born in Burlington, Iowa, on Sept. 3, 1920. His father was an amateur bookbinder and nourished his son’s passion for books. Oddly, Lord himself publilshed only two works, a how-to on tennis and a memoir, neither of them massive sellers.

In a year that saw the conviction of disgraced former Team USA doctor and Michigan State University physician Larry Nassar, the 2018 Espy awards took it upon itself to shine a light on the unity of the sexual assault survivors and celebrated the feats performed by female athletes over the past year. The show was hosted by former race driver Danica Patrick, the first woman to host the ESPYs since their inception in 1993.
In a somber, spine-tingling moment that brought several in attendance at the Microsoft Theater to tears, around 100 women took the center stage while singer Milck, an abuse survivor herself, sang her anthemic single, “Quiet.” Each woman in the group that filled the stage was representative of the “sister survivors” who spoke out against Nassar.
“Telling our stories of abuse over and over again in detail is not easy,” said Sarah Klein, a former gymnast and victim of Nassar’s abuse.

David Wise‘s 3-year-old son Malachi and 6-year-old daughter Nayeli both take after their adventurous father.
“Both of my kids are pretty crazy. They like to jump off things and do flips and break things,” the Olympic freestyle skier told People during a Celeb Parents Get Real segment, admitting Malachi is “exactly like how I was as a child.”
“His nickname is Bruiser because he’s constantly just throwing things,” explains Wise, 27, who won a gold medal in the Sochi games four years ago during the first-ever ski half-pipe event.

Snake Pass (2017) developed by Digital Sumo, is a charming throwback to the games of yore. Specifically, N64 games developed by UK developer, Rare Ware. At its heart, Snake Pass is an old-school platformer, the type that is seeing a slight resurgence with Banjo-Kazooie scheduled for release later this year. Available on all platforms, it was interesting to see how Snake Pass runs on the Nintendo Switch, given Nintendo’s rich history with the platform genre and the console being underpowered compared to its contemporaries.
Snake Pass is one of the more unique puzzle-platformers due to its control system. The choice to make the player-character a snake, who is adorably called Noodle, is not just for aesthetic purposes and plays into the very core mechanics of what Snake Pass has to offer. Its fifteen levels take place on floating islands, with various collectables and the three required key passes to complete the levels,...

Let's go back and relive some of the most bizarre moments from the original Tmnt cartoon.
Newsflash: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may not have been the most normal Saturday morning cartoon ever. But for a TV show about anthropomorphic reptiles who are into cosplay and extreme sports and somehow picked up a Southern California drawl to their speech patterns, it felt pretty normal most of the time. It didn't feel out of the ordinary at all to sit there and watch as villains that looked menacing just stood around to avoid engaging in sluggish fights.
But trust us. There were a few unusual episodes out there that stuck out more than others did. Here are just a few off the top of our heads (discounting that crazy European Vacation side-season that so bizarre it deserves a whole 'nother article written about it).

In celebration of 30 years since Nintendo released the Nes here in North America, I decided to round-up the Sos troops and compile a list of the 100 greatest games published and or developed by Nintendo, and released exclusively to their consoles. Here is part four.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble Developer(s) Rare Publisher(s) Nintendo Platform(s) Snes 22 November 1996 Genre(s) Platformer - This third installment was one of the Super Nintendo’s last hurrahs. Released in 1996, it immediately seemed archaic against the new three-dimensional Mario title, released two months before on Nintendo’s next-generation 64-bit machine. It was also the weakest entry in the Donkey Kong Country franchise, marred by the inexcusable introduction of the sluggish, babyish Kiddy Kong, and by needless updates that sacrifice usability for visual splendor, like the lovingly-designed vehicles that awkwardly transport players between worlds. I always knew that one day, I would write a tribute to my favorite game of all time in the form of an article. There’s no better time, as it’s Nintendo Exclusives month in Gamerlinx town and I’m pulling in, parking my rhino, and telling you why I think Donkey Kong Country 2 was one of the greatest Nintendo exclusives to grace this earth.
So I first played Donkey Kong Country 2 when I was very little. A childling. I initially remember thinking it was really cool that there was a playable female Kong. My young mind took note that female characters can be badass too. I mean, Donkey Kong was kidnapped and Dixie was a cool enough girlfriend to help Diddy rescue him! Where was Candy Kong? Flirting with Funky no doubt. Anyway. It was also cool that Donkey Kong was kept in the game, it's just this time he's our damsel.

Johnny Dodd is a reporter and writer for People, currently in Sochi covering the 2014 Winter Olympics. You can follow him on Twitter @Johnny_Dodd. Somewhere around 3:15 a.m. on the morning I was to leave Sochi, I found myself dancing with a Cossack woman at a small, private party hosted by a Russian oligarch and being plied with shot glasses filled with a clear liquid that had the kick of jet fuel. Certainly not what I expected in the days before I arrived here to cover the Winter Games. Back then, I'd gotten all caught up in the dark paranoia surrounding the 2014 Winter Olympics.

American freestyle skier David Wise has a whole lot to celebrate, considering he just won the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. So we caught up with David, who was in the P&G Family Home in Sochi. As a dad with a two-year-old daughter, he was also a representative for Pampers. We chatted with David about his fashion sense, his love of coffee ice cream and what he forgot to pack—and why it's bumming him out! Describe your fashion style when you are not competing. I like to mix classic and casual. I like to be comfortable, but not too plain. I like to wear black shoes, sometimes a jacket with a t-shirt underneath, so I am not dressed to the nines but I'm not bumming it all the time,...

Ted made his Olympic mark on Feb. 19, winning the gold medal in the giant slalom event and becoming only the second American in history to win two Olympic gold medals in skiing.
In a sport that measures results by the hundreds of a second, Ted Ligety destroyed his competition in Sochi, winning gold in the giant slalom and beating Steve Missillier of France, who won silver, by 0.48 seconds. Ted was ahead of bronze medalist Alexis Pinturault of France by 0.64 seconds.

Olympic legacy skier Lyman Currier faced a tragic end to his Sochi games on Feb. 18, as the 19-year-old fell and injured his knee on the difficult halfpipe course.
Lyman Currier — the son of former Olympian David Currier, who competed in the 1972 Games — had high hopes going into the big debut of the Olympic halfpipe skiing event on Feb. 18, but snowy, treacherous conditions led to a potentially serious injury.
Olympic Skier Lyman Currier Crashes During Halfpipe
God, this is horrible. When someone trains 24/7 for a moment as huge as this, you can’t help but feel for them when they crash and burn. Of course, the giant snowflakes that inhibited the halfpipe event contributed to Lyman’s second-run crash in the qualifying round, but that doesn’t make his painful scream any less haunting.

Wise, 23, was the favorite heading into the ski halfpipe at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, having won gold in the last three X Games. Although he scored low marks on his second run, his first run, which was scored 92 points, was enough to keep him in the lead.

Wow! What a crazy night. Thanks everyone so much for the support! Stoked to share it with @mike_riddle and @KevinRolland1 two godfathers!

Ski halfpipe, the ski version of the event that made Shaun White a household name, makes its Olympic debut in Sochi on Feb. 18 (qualification and the final stream live on NBCOlympics.com at 8:45 a.m. Et and 12:30 p.m. Et, respectively, ahead of NBC’s primetime coverage; the women compete Feb. 20).

Listen up, kids – did you play the original Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii? Did you like the music? Well too bad – it was terrible. Aside from a few re-imaginings of classic tunes, the new compositions were forgettable at best. The music for the beach levels, especially, makes me cringe with boredom. That is, they would make me cringe – if I could even remember how they went. Luckily, Nintendo seems to have remedied this for the upcoming Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
The new trailer for the game comes via today’s Nintendo Direct stream, and it features what I can only assume is a David Wise composition – he’s been brought back to handle music on Tropical Freeze, after all. Given that he handled aural duties on the first three Snes games, it only seems right for him to return for the newest Dk in all of his synthesized-bass glory.

These are heady times for the sport of halfpipe skiing, what with its popularity being at an all-time high and its Olympic debut coming next month at the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
At the forefront of the sport's charge to mainstream recognition is David Wise, the 23-year-old native of Reno, Nev., and owner of two X Games gold medals in the superpipe, who will be among the 200-plus athletes on hand when the 2014 Winter X Games take place in Aspen/Snowmass, Colo., Thursday through Sunday, Jan. 23-26, on Espn and ABC.
"I'm honestly really proud to have been part of the wave of getting this sport into the Olympics," Wise tells Zap2it. "I've been competing in the halfpipe for a long time, and we honestly thought we were going to get into the 2010 Olympics, and then that didn't happen. But basically the high points of my career have...

In some cases, a soundtrack can take a game from being good to great. That's not only the case with modern games either, as the days of yore were able to provide memorable tunes that continue to stick with gamers today. We're digging into the past to un-earth and re-experience five Snes musical masterpieces that stand out from the crowd.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest
The enchanting soundtrack for Donkey Kong Country 2 was composed by David Wise. No stranger to simian-symphonies, David also created the music for DKC2's predecessor Donkey Kong Country, and went on to score a hat trick by composing for the third installment of the series (Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble).
The three games did battle to make it onto this list, copious bananas were thrown and many monkey tantrums were had. It is undoubtable that all three soundtracks have...

Now these are the kind of incentives I like to see to see for pre-orders. Atlus has revealed today that its upcoming dungeon-crawler Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl will come with oodles of bonuses for those eager enough to drop five dollars at GameStop ahead of time. How very generous of you, Atlus! I guess the company is feeling confident that it will fall into more financially stable hands.
So what will your gracious pre-order net you? A pretty nice spread, actually. For starters, you get a music CD with seven of the game’s tunes, including a live version of the main theme and other selections by composer Yuzo Koshiro. This is the dude Nintendo Power once called “the greatest game-music composer of the 16-bit age,” so this is serious business. I’d argue David Wise gives him a run for his money, but I’m partial to...
