She has a twin brother.

At 17, Minnie performed behind her half-sister, Jamie O'Neal, who happens to be 17 years older than her, on the Tonight Show.

Growing up in a performing family, Minnie was born near Seattle, Washington. While her two sisters were born in Australia and Hawaii.

Minnie is part of a musical family. Her father is Jimmy Murphy, a New Zealand native that traveled the world performing with his first wife and kids as part of The Murphy Family band in the 1960s-1980s. Her mother is a jazz pianist. Her half-sisters are singer Jamie O'Neal who is married to guitarist Rodney Good, and guitarist Samantha Murphy.

She wrote the song, Take me to Texas, with her mother.
