Ashley Rubay is a sound editor with a unique blend of experiences that enrich her work in the film industry. Before transitioning into sound editing, she dedicated herself to education as a high school teacher in the Los Angeles area, specializing in French language and culture, along with social sciences.
With a Master's in Education from USC and a B.A. in French Language and Culture, complemented by a minor in Art History from CalPoly Humboldt, Ashley possesses a deep appreciation for storytelling that transcends mediums.
Growing up surrounded by the magic of sound in film-thanks to her father, award-winning sound editor Geoffrey G. Rubay-Ashley developed a passion for post-production sound that feels like second nature. She fondly recalls her childhood experiences on dubbing stages at renowned facilities such as Weddington Productions and Todd AO, assisting her father in recording sound effects and watching every aspect of the post sound process unfold.
Ashley earned an MPSE Golden Reel for her contributions to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, along with the rest of the sound crew. Now, she collaborates with her father and younger brother, Alec, at their independent post-production sound facility, SoundCrafters, in Burbank. Embracing her love for every aspect of filmmaking, Ashley continues to bring creativity and dedication to her projects.
