Michael Reiss has been writing, directing, and acting for over 20 years, since 1990. Michael is primarily motivated by independent film, in the vein of Cassavetes, Richard Linklater, Jim Jarmusch, and Sam Peckinpah. His credits include: "Vivian Durant" (1990), "Time in Limbo" (2005), "Attack Dog" (2010), "The Zombie" (2010), and a few feature scripts, including "Somewhere in Mexico", "Old Indian Cure", and "Tales of Shadowy Men". He has also produced many short stories, a book of poetry, been published in a few New York newspapers, and wrote a fever-dream novel called "The Bones of the Moon".

Michael also worked at Miramax, in the marketing department, in the mid-1990's, and worked on films such as Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" and Peter Jackson's "Heavenly Creatures". He also worked on Richard Sears's "In the Drink", which won best short film at Cannes in 1994.

He lives and works in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, NYC.
