Ivan du Pontavice

Ivan du Pontavice is a French actor, born and raised in Paris, with British and American roots. He first trained as a classical pianist, and graduated from the prestigious Sorbonne university with a first-class degree in Philosophy and literature. Then he studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts where he focused on his love for Shakespeare and classical theatre. While living in London he perfected his accent and understanding of the language and culture. Shortly after moving back to Paris, he was cast as Gabin, one of the lead roles in Amazon's Etoile, by the Palladinos. His background in physical theatre and movement theatre helped him immerse himself into the world of ballet. He had to take 3-4 classes a week for a year in order to build a believable physique and demeanour as the character, and do some of the choreographies himself. Ivan is passionate with navigating languages, accents, disciplines (such as music, dance and acting), and physical transformations for his roles. He is a formally trained singer, musician (he wrote a pop album with music producer Daniel Yvinec), and movement practitioner (Laban, Michael Chekhov, Lecoq). Forever a student, Ivan always strives to learn more skills and knowledge within the international journey of his career.
