Exclusive: Netflix’s Arthurian legend series Cursed has added Humans and Troy: Fall of a City actress Bella Dayne.
Dayne joins previously announced cast including Katherine Langford, Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgard, Peter Mullan and Lily Newmark. In a series-regular role, she will play Red Spear, described to us as “a regal and ruthless viking captain, with an eye for treasure. … Loyal to no one, the Red Spear and her crew raid villages along the coast of Britain until a Fey stowaway boards her ship and entangles their fates.”
Netflix gave a 10-episode order to the project, which is based on comics supremo Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s upcoming illustrated book. Zetna Fuentes (Jessica Jones) and Jon East (Killing Eve) are among directors on the drama epic, which is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of the young woman (Langford) who would become the Lady of the Lake.

The Last Kingdom Season 3 delivers its strongest episode yet, with a blend of visceral battle and touching emotional moments.
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

The Last Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6
I pity the cameraperson. Did you see those battle shots? Filmed from inside the throng, with all the blood, mud and squelch flying. Swords swiping across flesh and sliding through windpipes. Shields knocking skulls, and bodies stamped into the ooze. So much butchery you could smell it. Kudos to director Jon East and the team for putting me right off my teatime sausage roll.
Episode six’s opening few moments weren’t just brutal, they were also tense, and ultimately, rousing. Alfred’s tactic was shrewdly effective. It forced Edward to think like a king, and forced The Last Kingdom’s viewers to chew their sofa cushions under...

Selecting the best TV episodes of the year is always a complicated process, as singling out an individual half hour or hour (or in some cases 75 minutes) can sometimes seem antithetical to the greater art of TV. If these shows are designed to be experienced as a whole, whether in a single viewing or spread out over weeks and months, what’s the point in picking out smaller sections of the overall unified piece?
The truth is that some of these episodes are self-contained gems that somehow contain all the elements that enrich the stories around them. Other standout episodes are the logical conclusion of countless hours of preparation, the payoff to a promise built over entire seasons.

Whatever the reason, as we soar past the 2018 halfway mark, it’s worth noting some of these focused achievements on an individual level.

Downton Abbey, Season 4, Episode 8
Directed by Jon East
Written by Julian Fellowes
Aired Sunday at 9 pm on PBS
Downton Abbey concludes yet another season of ups and downs with a pretty even-keeled finale. Like the end of Season 3, the events of this special happen mostly away from the titular residence, but this time, Scotland is exchanged for London and ballrooms and Jazz clubs take the place of horseback rides and hunts. And this time, everybody can just relax and enjoy the show. There’s nothing to fear for fans who have become accustomed to the risks of loving the show’s characters. Julian Fellowes has allowed the festivities to proceed without interruption from sudden deaths or acts of violence.
The reason for the move to London is Rose’s coming out ceremony, where she will be presented to the King and Queen and thereafter be considered an eligible young woman...

Review Becky Lea 4 Sep 2013 - 22:00
Whitechapel takes a leaf from Dennis Wheatley's book in this week's occult-related mystery. Here's Becky's review of the series 4 opener...
Never for the faint of heart, Whitechapel kickstarted the new series in suitably grisly fashion as a homeless man was slowly crushed to death by an anonymous assailant. Meanwhile, Di Joe Chandler (Rupert Penry-Jones) and DS Ray Miles (Phil Davis) are celebrating the book launch of their colleague Edward Buchan (Steve Pemberton) before being called away to investigate the latest mysterious murder.
The opening scenes were deftly handled, flitting between the Whitechapel team at Buchan’s book launch to the slow, torturous death of this episode’s mysterious corpse, swiftly re-establishing the show’s unflinching attention to murderous detail. Despite being filmed mostly in shadow, the killing of Alexander Zukanov (David Gant) was possibly one of the series’ most memorable for just how affecting it was.
