Leon Lockley is a self-trained freelance D.O.P., Lighting Camera Operator / Assistant and FCPX / Premiere Pro Editor. Leon has been proficient in many formats over the years including DV, DVCam, DigiBeta, HDV, HD, 16mm and 35mm film.
Over the past decades his projects have included various documentaries, many short films, educational, corporate and promotional work. Credits include Panorama, the feature films Dead Man's Shoes and Jelly Dolly. His many jobs have included clients as varied as The Kings Foundation, Fairline, TNT, Scania, National Football Museum, The Health and Safety Executive, Mencap, Western Park Museum, Thorntons Solicitors, KPMG, Walkers Crisps, Pertemps, Morphy Richards, Sky News and the BBC.
Also within his role Leon has often tutored or mentored children and adults of various ages and abilities on using the camera and/or editing. Projects have included working with The Youth Offending Team of Sheffield, Myers Grove Video Summer School, Abbeydale Grange Media School, Father Figures, Fatherspeak, Creative Partnerships and Shift 1st Light at Sheffield Independent Film.
Leon has also taught Cinematography to third year film students at Sheffield Hallam University and also works as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Sheffield in the journalism department, delivering camera and edit workshops to second year students in the Autumn semester. Please note this role is only two days a week for eight weeks in November / December and doesn't impact on his freelance work.
Leon's extensive experience in the world of media coupled with his people skills makes him an easy going and approachable tutor that children and adults alike have enjoyed learning from.
