Maria Clara Gueiros

Maria Clara Gueiros is a Brazilian actress and ballet dancer. She began her career as a tap dancer in the group Catsapá, in 1984. She had her actress debut three years later in the children's show Na Cola do Sapateado (dir. Tania Nardini) and kept working as an actress afterwards. She performed in plays for different age groups, such as the children's plays Na Festa de Bebete (dir. Tania Nardini, 1991); O Boi e o Burro no Caminho de Belém (dir. Maria Clara Machado, 1991) and A Gata Borralheira (dir. Cacá Mourthé). She was nominated Best Actress for the Coca-Cola and Mambembe awards (1998). For an older audience, she performed in plays such as Advocacia Segundo os Irmãos Marx (dir. Bernardo Jablonski, 1992); TV Sátira, sua Televisão Privada (dir. Chico Anysio, 1995) and Esse Cara Não Existe, written and directed by Mauro Farias and Evandro Mesquita, winners of the Prêmio Shell for Best Script (2003). She acted in Utopia (2005), for which she was nominated Best Actress at the Prêmio Qualidade Brasil. She was in Os Difamantes - a play by Martha Mendonça and Nelito Fernandes, directed by Ernesto Piccolo - for which she was nominated Best Actress at the Prêmio Qualidade Brasil in 2009. On TV, she acted in commercials for Jornal Extra, Shopping Carioca, Peugeot, Vivo, and Samsung. She has also acted in telenovelas, films, and shows since 1990, including Rainha da Sucata (1990); Explode Coração (1996) and Pecado Capital (1998). She was in the telenovelas O Clone (2002) and Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003), and in the shows Zorra Total (2001), Brava Gente (2001), A Diarista (2004), and Sob Nova Direção, written by Claudio Torres Gonzaga and directed by Mauro Farias (2004). She acted in the feature films Summer Show (dir. Moacyr Góes, 2003), O Diário da Tati (dir. Mauro Farias, 2006), Xuxa Twins (dir. Jorge Fernando, 2006), Sexo com Amor (written by Boris Quércia and directed by Wolf Maya, 2007), and Muita Calma Nessa Hora (written by Bruno Mazzeo and directed by Felipe Joffily, 2009). From 2004 to 2008, she was in the show Zorra Total (dir. Mauricio Sherman), where she played Laura, Zana Zen, Clícia, and Márcia. More recently, from 2016 to 2019, she was on the show Zorra (Rede Globo), where she portrayed several characters. Between 2017 and 2018 she shared the stage with Guilherme Piva on the play A Invenção do Amor, written by Alessandro Marson and Thereza Falcão, and directed by Marcelo Valle. From 2018 to 2019 she was on the play Loloucas, written by Heloísa Perissé and directed by Otávio Müller. In 2021 she was Vitória in the Rede Globo telenovela Nos Tempos do Imperador. She was also in the cast of the show No Mundo da Luna (HBO), an adaptation of the homonymous book by Karina Rissi, directed by Robeto D'ávila. Her awards include Best Comedian at Prêmio Melhores do Ano (Rede Globo) and Best Supporting Actress at Prêmio Contigo for her role in the telenovela Insensato Coração (directed by Dennis Carvalho, 2011).
