Film Review: Air Doll (2009) by Hirokazu Koreeda
Image
The Japanese family drama is inextricably connected to the name Hirokazu Koreeda due to features such as “Shoplifters” or “Monster”. While the majority of viewers will most likely come up with titles like the ones mentioned, the director has more than once explored other narratives and characters, while staying true to his core themes of what makes us human and connect to one another. His fans quite often make a case of works such as “The Third Murder” or “After Life” not being of the same quality as the more known family drama, but this is an unfair and wrong claim, as Koreeda has more than once dealt with ideas that have proven to be much more lasting and relevant in the long run. One of these examples is “Air Doll”, which ranks on place 13 of Amp’s list of the works of the director and is possibly one of...

One Jujutsu Kaisen Hero's "Death" is Still the Series' Most Frustrating Plot Point
Image
Nobara's ambiguous death in Jujutsu Kaisen leaves fans frustrated with lack of closure. Evidence suggests Nobara may not be dead, but the lack of follow-up adds to confusion. Nanami's legacy is honored, while Nobara's fate remains uncertain in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Warning: This Article Contains Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen

In Jujutsu Kaisen, one character's apparent death is, for some reason, kept absurdly vague. Nobara Kugisaki met her alleged end in the Shibuya Incident, after Mahito used Idle Transfiguration to mutilate her face and rip an eye out. However, there's never been an explicit statement that Nobara is in fact dead. She is almost certainly dead, given how much of the manga there is left for her to appear in, but Gege Akutami just refuses to give closure to her.

It's become one of the most frustrating plot points of the series, especially as it heads towards a finale. Despite starting...
