Juan Carlos Ayala Camarena
Juan Carlos Ayala Camarena has deep family roots in northern Spain and Sinaloa, Mexico. Raised in Santa Ana, California, with Los Angeles as his backyard playground, J.C. first embarked on his filmmaking journey when he was admitted to UCLA's School of Film & Television in 1995. After a significant hiatus during which he devoted 25 years to international literacy programs as a full-time volunteer, J.C. has now returned to his filmmaking passion, eager to tell stories shaped by his diverse experiences and the people he encountered along the way.
His recent work includes two feature-length screenplays written in 2023, "Searching for Paradise" and "I Am Meksiko," as well as a short film screenplay titled "I Am Not Selena." In March and September 2024, J.C. achieved a major milestone goal by completing two additional feature length screenplays: "Layo's Unforgettable Band," based on the true story of one of America's first all-female Banda groups and "One Last Ride. His latter goal for 2024 is to produce his short film titled "Fight or Flight."
J.C. is developing and writing three additional feature-length screenplays: "Band of Sisters," (Inspired by "Layo's Unforgettable Band), "Wild Wild Georgia,"and "The Crossing." His artistic vision is to infuse the film and streaming industry with a distinct Latino voice and perspective, both as a writer and director. Passionate about bringing inspirational true stories to life, J.C. also enjoys creating in the genres of drama/comedies and psychological thrillers. His personal mission is to inspire dialogue and action among audiences through his written and visual storytelling. J.C. would like to note that he does not use A.I. to write his screenplays.
