The actor, 65, explained the decision in a new interview with Extra.

Hospital Slammed Over Quaid Twins Accident

A California hospital has been blamed for a series of preventable errors which put the lives of nm0000598 autoDennis Quaid[/link]'s newborn twins in jeopardy.
nm1603027 autoThomas Boone[/link] and Zoe Grace are lucky to be alive after they were mistakenly given 1,000 times the normal 10-unit dose of blood-thinning drug Heparin by staff at Los Angeles' Cedar's Sinai Medical Center, shortly after they were born to a surrogate mother in November.
And now the U.S. Department of Public Health has criticised the medical facility for not following guidelines.
In a 20-page report, officials write, "This violation involved multiple failures by the facility to adhere to established policies and procedures for safe medication use.
"These violations caused, or were likely to cause, serious injury or death to the patients who received the wrong medication."
Quaid and his wife Kimberley recently announced they plan on suing Baxter Healthcare Corp. for mis-labelling the drug which left the babies critically ill.
