David Rambo
David Rambo is a screenwriter, producer and playwright. Raised in rural Pennsylvania, he moved to New York at 18 and studied acting while working as a bar pianist to pay bills. He acted in off-off Broadway productions and summer stock before getting a break as a star of the ABC musical-comedy pilot The Best of Times with Nicolas Cage and Crispin Glover. Aging out of teen roles, David realized that what he really wanted to do was write, and started writing plays while selling real estate to pay bills. Eventually, his play God's Man in Texas premiered at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville. It quickly became one of the most produced titles in the country, including a production at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles that caught the attention of William Petersen, star of the TV hit CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. After the show's first three seasons, Petersen wanted to add a playwright to the show's writing staff. David was hired to write a freelance script, "Butterflied," which aired January 15, 2004 and immediately became a fan favorite. From that experience, David was hired as a writer/producer on the series for six more seasons. Since leaving CSI in 2010, David's career has worked continuously in television, with credits as varied as the premiere season of Empire and Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas, the highly-rated holiday movie on NBC/Peacock. He continues to write plays, including a one-woman show about Ann Landers, The Lady With all the Answers, which ran off-Broadway starring Judith Ivey, and adaptations of several classic screenplays for live performance, including All About Eve, Sunset Boulevard, Adam's Rib, and Casablanca. He serves on the board of The Entertainment Community Fund and chairs its Western Council.
