Carsten Jancker
Jancker joined the GDR club TSG Wismar in 1981. There the seven-year-old learned the basics of football. His running skills in the game have their roots in the family. His mother Marlen Jancker used to play in the GDR national team and was considered one of the best circular runners in her country. In 1986 Jancker left TSG Wismar and moved to Hansa Rostock. He stayed there until 1991. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he looked for his sporting home in the West. He joined 1. FC Köln and played for the Bundesliga for the first time. He left Germany in 1995.
From the same year, Jancker was contractually bound to the Rapid Vienna club in the first division. He and his team immediately became Austrian champions. In 1996 he reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup with Rapid Vienna. Jancker also found his private happiness in Vienna, where he met his future wife Natascha. Jancker is now a father of two. But in the same year, 1996, he broke away from the Viennese club. Nevertheless, the footballer made the biggest leap in his sporting development in Vienna. At the end of his time in Vienna, he had become a strong, hard-running striker.
The footballer then moved to Bavaria to record champions Bayern Munich, for whom he has been playing since July 1996. The following year he became German champion for the first time with Bayern. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 he repeated the success in the national championship with the Bayern team. He played a total of 191 games for them until the end of the 2001/2002 season. Jancker had a goal tally of 73 goals. In the two years 1998 and 2000 he won the cup. In 2001 he won the Champions League and the World Cup. In 1998, Carsten Jancker had his first international match in the German jersey against Moldova, which took place in Kishinev.
In the same year he won the DFB Cup. A further 25 international matches followed by May 2002, in which he scored a total of seven goals. In May and June 2002 he took part in a FIFA World Cup match for the first time. Jancker played a total of three games and scored one goal. He scored the goal in the 45th minute of the match against Saudi Arabia on June 1, 2002. This brings his international tally to a total of 29 games and eight goals. In 2002 he moved to Udinese Calcio in Serie A in Italy. On March 22, 2004, the striker prematurely terminated his contract with Udinese Calcio, which ran until June 30, 2007, and left the club at the end of the season.
Previously, Jancker had only scored two goals in 34 games for Udinese. From 2004/2005 he played for the Bundesliga club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. For the 2005/2006 season he moved to Shanghai Shenhua in the China Premier League. He signed a one-year contract with the 2003 Chinese champions that would have paid him $500,000 if he had played 70 percent of the playing time on the field. But a leg injury set him back for a long time. After six months, he announced his return from China to Austria to SV Mattersburg in October 2006.
