Jonathan Hicks(II)

Now living in Baltimore, Maryland, J. Michael Hicks is a Memphis and California native. He is an U.S. Air Force veteran and also screenwriter of the highly successful independent film "Nora's Hair Salon. Prior to his first film success, his first novel "Never as Good As the First Time" was published in 1996 and he became one of the first minority independent writer/publishers to receive a lucrative two book distribution deal with Wal-mart, Inc and the novel became one of their bestsellers and later grazed several other national bestseller lists. His second novel had equal success and in 2002, when J. moved to Hollywood, where Ernest "Roger" Thomas of the famed 70s television sitcom, "What's Happening" became his first manager. That summer, he hooked up with the producers of "Gang of Roses" a western starring LisaRaye, Lil Kim, Stacey Dash, Marie Matiko, and Monica Calhoun. While on the set, the director of the film commissioned Jonathan to write several other screenplays.

In 2012, J. put his screenwriting career on hold to become a graduate student and complete his M.B.A. in Public Administration. Earlier this year in 2018, he became a Public Affairs advisor for U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon. Next summer in 2019 he plans to open a Hollywood backlot type soundstage and film studio in the Baltimore area and integrate a technology internship program with local college engineering students and other community youths to work along side the film production professionals.

As far as his writing in 2018, he plans to publish two non-fiction works, a book of poetry mix with local photography and he's also written a gritty television pilot called "Jaguar Jack" set in a futuristic Baltimore about a hard-nose private detective.
