Jason DeMarco graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 1996 with a bachelors degree in film and video production.
In 1996 he began his career as a production assistant at Turner Network Television. While there, he co-created the Toonami programming block for Cartoon Network. IN 1998, he was hired at Cartoon Network as a writer/producer, working primarily on Toonami. In 2000, DeMarco was a member of the original team that developed and promoted Adult Swim, which launched in 2001. DeMarco worked for both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim for several years, Executive Producing both original series IGPX and Big O, until moving over to Adult Swim full time in 2009. While there, he shepherded the return of Toonami to television in 2012, and also launched Williams Street Records. DeMarco was responsible for the music licensed for Adult Swim promotions, and launched the Adult Swim Singles Program, as well as executive producing the DangerDOOM album, and Killer Mike's "R.A.P. Music" LP among others. Pairing Mike with producer El-P, he set the stage for the creation of Run The Jewels, with whom Adult Swim has since been closely associated. AS SVP and Creative Director of Adult Swim On-Air, DeMarco executive produced 35+ albums across various genres, as well as releasing hundreds of singles, and was in charge of the Adult Swim Music Festival from 2018 on. He also Executive Produced 40 music videos and assorted shorts. In 2018, Adult Swim released FLCL Progressive and Alternative, two series from Production I.G that would be the first Adult Swim anime originals. In his current role as SVP, anime and action series and long form for Adult Swim and Warner Bros Animation, he has moved into full time producing and development work, while still being responsible for the creative direction of the Toonami block on Adult Swim.
