Two years ago, was it more improbable that Jonah Ryan would be a congressman or that he’d have a girlfriend?
Timothy Simons takes a long time to answer this question. He should. It’s a tough one. Go ahead, and ask yourself: Two years ago, when Simons’ “Veep” character was getting his balls fondled by Patton Oswalt’s hands-y VP staffer, Teddy, was it harder to imagine him with a girlfriend, or as a United States Congressman?
“It would probably be that Jonah would have a girlfriend,” Simons said after a considerate pause. “And for these reasons: [Congressmen] don’t end up having to spend a lot of individual time with the voters. [Jonah] could probably spend five minutes with anyone and get them to believe that he’s a good dude, and that would be the lasting impression. Even if he met a girl that was into him, the more...

There are at least a dozen compelling storylines on which I could choose to focus my recap of So You Think You Can Dance‘s Season 12 performance finale.
RelatedQuotes of the Week: Sytycd, Mr. Robot, Chasing Life, Top Model, Graceland and More
We had Nigel Lythgoe’s oblivious (but nevertheless grotesque) attitudes about two guys dancing together — so deeply rooted in homophobia that even Kim Davis might roll her eyes and sigh, “Brit, please.” We had the judges working overtime to make sure that Hailee Payne’s dazzling display of artistry wouldn’t upend the long-supported Gaby-Jaja final two. Sleepyheads, circle the wagons, because we’ve got a lot to talk about.
This week’s Sleepy Hollow not only killed off Henry and sent Abbie skipping through time like a smooth stone, it officially turned Katrina into the Witnesses’ adversary.
This is a big, witchy deal. And, if you’re like me, you have thoughts.

"Bones" moves to Friday and Brennan sees another side of the criminal-justice process in "The Fury in the Jury." But it's safe to say that the analytical crime-solver is not content to have things go the route of O.J. Simpson when a sports star faces the murder of his wife.
If the jury can't convict him, then it's up to the Jeffersonian to convict a bad man.
"12 Angry Men," "Bones"-style
In the classic film/play, "12 Angry Men," a single juror convinces a room of guilty-voters to rethink the case and examine the evidence. The results display the individuals' characters as well as the workings of the jury-trial concept.
"Bones" pretty much does the same thing here, only with Brennan in Henry Fonda's role.
The case is that of Peter Kidman, a professional soccer player on trial for the murder of his wife, Charlene. Although Kidman's sister, Alison, insists...

After five continents, 23 cities, 40,000 miles, some ridiculous kangaroo suits, plates of greasy wiener schnitzel, and Kent’s unbelievably terrifying eyebrows, The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business reached its conclusion Sunday night with an intermittently tense, occasionally emotional finale.
The opening hour took the competitors from Switzerland to Rio de Janeiro, where the field was winnowed down from four teams to three. The leg started out poorly for Flight Time and Big Easy, who missed a train connection thanks to a sluggish cab driver, giving a 30-minute head start to the three remaining teams. Phil Keoghan promises the promo hyping a "photo finish" on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business is not an exaggeration.
"It's a really tight finish. We really didn't know right up until the last minute exactly who was going to come around the corner," he tells TVGuide.com. "But that's what makes it so exciting. The last couple of seasons, we've had a few wins that were not as close, so this was a real treat."

Kent and Vyxsin had one of the most dramatic and amusing returns to The Amazing Race we've ever seen. When they weren't bickering (usually about forgetting something), they were making us laugh with their commentary, or fighting with the Globetrotters. I had the opportunity to ask "The Goths" some questions and find out more about the Globetrotters, what happened in Varanasi, and how they feel about their race. You won't want to miss this one.
Congratulations on making it so far! You two were so much fun to watch. You experienced a number of setbacks this season. What was the most frustrating moment for you?...

This episode begins at the base of the Matterhorn, a mildly phallic looking mountain in Switzerland that was also recreated as an amusement park ride in Disneyland. Five teams remain in the scramble around the world for a second chance at a million dollars. So far, the teams have endured wading around in frigid mud pits and cow manure, but the viewers have endured something even more appalling: Kent and Vyxsin’s constant high-pitched histrionics and toddler-like tantrums. It almost makes us want Ron back.
As snow swirls around them, the teams head to a heli-pad to be airlifted to the detour challenge. Zev and Justin are the first team to take off, with Jen and Kisha close behind.
The squabbling Goths, as usual, intend to go through the entire leg with a good attitude. In fact, they even put on extra glitter to match the snow. The extra shine isn’t enough,...

Sunday's episode of The Amazing Race had a fantastic ending, and not just because Kent Kaliber and Vyxsin Fiala were finally eliminated after yet another screw-up and in the middle of yet another argument. Feud Alert! Amazing Race's Eliminated Goths Kent and Vyxsin Slam Globetrotters as "Pathetic Bullies"
Before the start of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business, host Phil Keoghan told us the returning Globetrotters team [Herb "Flight Time" Lang and Nate "Big Easy" Lofton] were "the most inspirational" of the bunch. Last night's eliminated contestants would beg to differ. "They are not good examples of what a Globetrotter is," they said, chastising the basketball stars for not only "ganging up" on them last night but for sabotaging and bullying other contestants. A 30-minute penalty for taking a cab to the Pit Stop instead of going by foot doomed Kent Kaliber and Vyxsin Fiala on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business, but the real drama came at the Roadblock when the Globetrotters accused Vyxsin of stealing Flight Time's gnome mold. "I didn't take it," Vyxsin tells TVGuide.com. "It was pretty clear on the episode the way they showed it when I put mine on the bottom shelf. I talked to the chocolate teachers and everybody said, 'No, of course, you didn't take it.'" Of course, that wasn't enough to stop the Globetrotters from taunting the Goths — behavior Kent dubs "pretty disgusting." See what else they have to say about the Globetrotters and which team should not be underestimated.

The past few seasons of The Amazing Race occasionally foreshadowed that week’s leg with clips from the team’s pre-leg interviews.
This was certainly true on this week’s episode "Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen," but an even trickier foreshadowing moment occurred right after the Detour.
At the beginning of this week’s episode Justin commented “Ever since we hit the cold weather we’ve been running first.” Was that a sign that Zev and Justin would win another leg if they stayed in cold weather? Or perhaps the opposite if they were sent to warm weather?
Similarly, Kent commented “I feel like we become a better team the longer this race goes on”. Had the Dating Goths talked out how they needed to act to be successful? Would Kent and Vyxsin finally have a drama free leg?

Who’d have thought that an extended product placement segment starring the Travelocity gnome and some mellow Swiss chocolate makers could yield a bubbling cauldron of intrigue, drama, and hurt feelings? But that’s exactly what went down on Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business.

Kent and Vyxsin have become the latest team sent home on "The Amazing Race". In the May 1 episode, all contestants faced one of the toughest legs as they went on an adventure amid the freezing weather in Switzerland. First, the teams headed to the air rescue helicopter port in Zermatt where they boarded on helicopter that departed in five minute intervals.
From Zermatt, they went to a mountain next to the Matterhorn where they had to choose between Search or Rescue for detour. In Search, teams had to locate a training dummy that was buried somewhere on the mountain. Meanwhile in Rescue, teams were required to use a device and rescued a mountaineer by repelling down a crevice.
Kisha and Jen, Flight Time and Big Easy, and Kent and Vyxsin picked Rescue, while Zev and Justin as well as Gary and Mallory opted for Search. Kisha and Jen learned that...

There was a lot written and talked about last week about the other teams “cheating” by sharing information on the last leg of the Race, causing the beloved Cowboys to be eliminated. Cries of “I’m never watching this show again” echoed around the Amazing Race Universe in the days following the airing of the episode.
Look, there was nothing in the rules (or in the Detour instructions) that said that the answer had to be calculated/gathered/figured out "on your own."
What about if two of the teams decided at the beginning of the Detour to ride together, and figure it out together? Is that cheating? There have been numerous instances where teams have worked together on a task...this is, and should be, an accepted form of an alliance in Tar.

True confessions time: I found myself frustrated and disappointed at the end of Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. It didn’t help that my second-favorite team had been eliminated, but ultimately, it was the way they met their demise that didn’t sit right with me.
Early in the episode, the six remaining teams faced a Road Block in which one member had to measure the entire length of Lichtenstein on a motorized bicycle, then reveal the correct distance (22 km) to Olympic skiier Marco Buchel in order to receive the next clue. “The map is pretty straightforward.

Watching the end of this week’s leg of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business I now know what it must feel like to have to choose between your two children: awful.
The reality that the cowboys were going to be towards the back of the pack, if not last, was evident very early after Jet messed up the Roadblock. However, we were able to dream that another team would get U-Turned as well and Jet and Cord could use their speed to make up ground, pass a team and avoid a last place finish.
As the Detour wore on, however, it became obvious that a worst case scenario was developing. The cowboys would be U-Turned, alright. But one by one each of the teams I wanted to see forced to do the other half of the challenge - Kent and Vyxsin, Kisha and Jen or Gary and Mallory – skated by...

The Sunday, April 24 episode of "The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business" started off in Austria where six remaining teams caught a train to Liechtenstein. Once arriving there, they faced a Road Block which told them to measure the entire length of the country on a motorized bike (a Solex), using an odometer and a map.
Gary and Mallory, who arrived in last place in previous leg, faced Speed Bump in this Road Block. They had to make fuel for their Solex with gas and oil as the extra task. Justin was the first who guessed the distant correctly, followed by Jen who heard his guess. Once Justin collected Zev and Jen was back with Kisha, the two teams were on board a train to Zermatt, Switzerland where they faced a detour.
Gary, Vixen and Flight Time all finished at the same time since they helped each other with the correct mileage.

Tonight's episode of The Amazing Race finds the six remaining teams heading off to Liechtenstein and Switzerland for a Cheese Feast and Motorcycle Ride. Will Gary and Mallory be able to overcome their Speed Bump? Let's get to it.
My Random Thoughts:
- This week’s episode started off with a continuation of last week’s commercial for the all-new “2012 Ford Focus”, as Zev and Justin took a tour of the spiffy new vehicles that they won last week. Ok, ok…I’ll admit defeat and just accept the overt product placement this season, by let me ask you an interesting question about those cars: Why did they have Michigan plates? If you’re going to give away a car in Austria, are you really going to ensure that the plates are from Detroit? The Motor City? God Bless America,...

Sunday’s episode of The Amazing Race saw the six remaining teams leave India and head to the land that produced two of the biggest badasses in history – Mozart and The Terminator. Five teams boarded an early flight route to Vienna, Austria, while the cowboys decided to take a later flight route that had fewer layovers, believing that less layovers was the safer option. All in all, a decent episode of The Amazing Race last night, at least relative to its weaker episodes, and despite the fact that Kent and Vixsyn are still around and may just get worse. In Austria, clues weren't just spelled out for them, and clues lead to more clues at destinations that required directions, and that was the most fun. There was a clue visible only via their car's back-up camera, the fun of...

Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business contained one of those Detours that seemed as easy as choosing between a soothing massage or a thwack in the stomach with a two-by-four. And yet midway through their travels in Vienna, Austria (or according to the Globetrotters “where the Terminator is from”), three of the six remaining teams — Zev and Justin, Kisha and Jen, and Gary and Mallory — shocked me by opting for “quick, easy meal” over “long, hard walk.” Maybe it’s just me, but whenever a food challenge crops up on Amazing Race, it seems like there...

After seven tremendous legs, The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business finally had a disappointing leg. Many of the facets of the previous legs that made them so interesting and challenging were missing from the eighth leg.
For starters, the previous seven legs featured difficult challenges that forced the leading teams to be efficient or risk allowing the trailing teams to get back in the race.
Heading to the Roadblock this week, Gary hoped aloud that the challenge would be difficult allowing him and Mallory to get back in to the race.
The chimney sweeping Roadblock was fun and culturally interesting, but didn’t shake up the standings at all.
To be fair, the Detour prior to the Roadblock was definitely challenging and provided some drama to the leg. Who would have guessed that the Quick and Easy Meal option was virtually impossible?
Fortunately for Jet and Cord, they didn’t choose it.

From India, "The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business" moved to Vienna, Austria. Five teams got on a flight that arrived earlier than the cowboys who took a flight that only required one connection.
The teams were given 2012 Ford Focuses that have a video message from Phil telling them to use the My Ford Touch system. The clue led them to Schloss Schallaburg, a castle where they found the next clue. From the castle, the teams got another clue which sent them to the National Library where they faced a detour.
The teams had to pick between Long Hard Walk and Quick and Easy Meal. For "Long Hard Walk," they would carry a couch through town. As for "Quick & Easy Meal", teams had to eat a bunch of food on a ferris wheel in 12 minutes.
The Globetrotters and the Goths chose to move the couch which turned out to be easier than the ferris wheel challenge.

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of The Amazing Race, Episode 8.
6 teams are left on The Amazing Race, and this week they all headed off to Austria. Which teams can't stomach the local cuisine? Who's having a major drama queen meltdown? And where the hell is Julie Andrews?
My Random Thoughts:
- All 6 of the teams left the Pit Stop within 90 minutes of each other, and considering that they were traveling from India to Austria, and all leaving in the middle of the night, the flight situation was once again going to be the Great Equalizer as the teams could all end up on the same flights. All the teams ended up at the awesomely named Akbar Travel Agency, which, despite the alternate spelling, only made me think of one thing...
Mallory found out it was going to be cold in Austria and just went with "Rats!" instead of a full-on shriek like usual.

Last week on The Amazing Race, Margie and Luke were eliminated and were forced to walk the trail of Luke’s copious tears into the sunset. Seven teams remain. Welcome back to Kolkata, a city of 15 million people and 15 million decibels, which left Zev semi-paralyzed in the bustling streets, covering his ears in pain. Meanwhile, Gary and Mallory, who won the last leg of the race, were treated to an authentic Indian meal, featuring the very authentic Indian tea brand Snapple.
Next, the teams were told to depart Kolkata for their next destination: Varanasi, a holy city on the banks of the Ganges. The Cowboys wandered up to a ticket counter and asked for the earliest flight to Varanasi; they ended up on a flight that landed an hour behind the six other pairs. “When I look into a man’s eyes as he’s telling me something, I believe him,...

I began the current season of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business as a somewhat casual observer, not so invested in any one all-star team that I felt ready to declare my undying allegiance. But seven episodes in, I’m finding myself gripping the sides of my couch hoping that father-daughter duo Gary and Mallory aren’t the last ones to see Phil Keoghan’s sombre mug at the weekly Pit Stop.
Part of my allegiance has to do with Mallory’s unwavering enthusiasm and priceless facial expressions. During Sunday night’s “Feed the Fire” detour — in which teams had to create 50 manure discs,...

Something really smelled foul on this week’s episode of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business and it wasn’t all of the buffalo manure that the teams encountered in the Detour. Kent hit some new lows this week and is officially the villain of the remaining six teams on the race.
When the teams returning to run The Amazing Race a second time were announced, Kent and Vyxsin’s inclusion was always a curious one. Because of their Goth lifestyle, they’re certainly intriguing, but they lack the endearing qualities that make Jet and Cord, Flight Time and Big Easy and Gary and Mallory such fan favorites. Heck, even Ron’s bumbling became lovable by the end of this episode.
But, Kent and Vyxsin were not alone as a curious inclusion. Kisha and Jen and Ron and Christina also fit the bill of teams whose inclusion didn’t seem warranted.

After a week hiatus, "The Amazing Race" returned on April 10 with the contestants continuing their journey in India. They had to depart for the Tonga Stand in Varanasi as the first challenge. Jet and Cord arrived the last because they took a flight that arrived an hour after everyone else, but they managed to complete all the tasks before Ron and Christina.
For the Road Block, the teams had to find six men to collect a piece of paper from each to create the phrase "Once your over the hill you pick up speed." Ron and Christina were already left behind in this task because Ron spent too much time in the wrong area.
The clue sent the teams to Tulsi Ghat for a Detour where they had to choose between "feed the fire" or "feed the buffalo". For Feed the Fire, the teams had to make manure patties and slap them on a wall,...

The Amazing Race returned on Sunday night after a week away due to the Academy of Country Music Awards, which were held in Las Vegas last week. Ironically, I was in Las Vegas at the same time (not attending the awards), although I did Just miss Carrie Underwood at the Wynn on Sunday night. I appreciated the coincidence that the week that the show wasn’t on, was the one week that I was away on vacation, so the recap I wouldn’t have been able to write, didn’t have to be written.
One fun thing that did happen on this trip actually did involve The Amazing Race, however. Remember back in Season 15, when on the final leg of the Race, the teams were in Las Vegas and had to count two million dollars in poker chips? Well, that...

At Reality Rocks 2011, current "Amazing Race: Unfinished Business" contestants Kent Kaliber and Vyxsin Fiala were on hand to talk with Zap2it about the latest episode, airing Sunday night (April 10).
"This Sunday, the race is still in India. Varanasi, India, which is beautiful," says Vyxsin. "I have to say, India is a little nerve-wracking for Kent and I because that's where we were eliminated on our first season, in Mumbai."
"This Sunday night we hope to redeem India," Kent laughs.
They also tell us about how in preparation for the finale airing, there is a big "Amazing Race" party in Miami. Teams from all 10 years, all 18 seasons will be in attendance. Sounds like fun!
Kent and Vyxsin are also hosting an "Amazing Race" watch in Burbank Sunday night, so if you live in southern California, join them at the downtown Burbank Hooters from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pt for the "Race"! Admission is free,...

Last time on The Amazing Race, Margie and Luke suffered a pretty devastating defeat. Luke drank about a hundred gallons of tea before receiving their product placement clue, and couldn't make up the time from there. This week, they're still in India, and if anything, The Amazing Race always reaffirms that I don't think I would enjoy visiting India. Ron doesn't enjoy India, but Ron doesn't enjoy anything.
Gary and Mallory got to try the new Amazing Race Snapple flavors first for their win in the last leg, and they get to depart for the Tonga Stand in Varanasi first. Which is better? Kent and Vyxsin were eliminated the last time they were in India, so they're hoping to make it farther this time. I love when the teams tell the people at the airport or travel agency that they're in a race, as though racing around the world is...

The episode opened with the teams still in China and the next clue informed them they are staying there, much to the chagrin of several of the contestants. Their next challenge was to go to Jin Fu Yi Zhan Tea Shop to sip some tea. Cut to several less than fascinating scenes of the players lounging around sipping tea. The excitement was so palpable that I nodded off and woke up to the sight of the teams painting pink elephants that looked suspiciously like the Goths in Kolkata, India. Uh oh. Time to rewind the DVR.
Back to China, my friends! Little did the teams know that one of the teas in the “challenge,” the papaya-mango tea, would become the focal point in the next challenge and the bane of their existence. After the tea sipping sequence, the teams were told to fly to Kolkata, India, the city formerly known as Calcutta,...

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of The Amazing Race - Episode 6.
The preview for this week’s episode of The Amazing Race teased a major meltdown by Luke at one of the tasks for this leg of the Race. Could I actually be that lucky? To have the ultimate Mama’s Boy eliminated on the same day as the North Carolina Tar Heels were bounced from the Ncaa Tournament? Let’s find out.
My Random Thoughts:
- In my first recap of the season, I said that I would be doing a season-long “Goth Count”, to see how often Kent and Vyxsin said the word “Goth.” Well, we’re six episodes into this season, and we still haven’t heard it yet, so I’m tossing it aside. After missing a mandatory flight last week on The Amazing Race, Goth darlings Kent and Vyxsin paid the ultimate price: a 30-minute penalty. Wait, what? In a shocking turn of events, a different pair of eyeliner enthusiasts—not the Pink and Black Attack—was sent home last night. And the cheerleaders are tossing their pom-poms in protest. Want More? Follow @DruMoorhouse on Twitter "I felt there was an exception made, personally," Jaime Edmondson complained to us today about the wrist-slap that let the Goths advance in the game while she and pal Cara Rosenthal were eliminated. Unlike the globe that it’s trotting, the current season of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business has been disappointingly flat over the course of its initial five episodes. Sure, Mallory’s scream-and-grunt approach to the game never ceases to make me chuckle, and I’ll also admit I’m glad that the cowboys righted their ship and would up checking in first to this week’s pit stop. But for some reason, Tar‘s typical clutch-the-couch-cushion thrill has been muted for me during this all-star edition.

After surviving a U-Turn, Jaime Edmondson and Cara Rosenthal fell victim to a grueling life-size dinosaur assembly task on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. "[It took] about four hours," Jaime tells TVGuide.com. "We knew we were last and I'm very happy knowing that even though we knew we were last, Jaime didn't quit," Cara adds. "We finished because the one thing we aren't is quitters." The former NFL cheerleaders also aren't bitter about Kent and Vyxsin U-Turning them right in front of their faces — but they wouldn't have done the same to them.

One of the best quotes from one of the best movies, Happy Gilmore, is a perfect summation of what was biggest factor in the finish of this week’s episode of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. Christina noted it herself as well, indicating that the racers, who got the hips correct the first time, finished the task first. Those who didn’t, such as herself, came dangerously close to elimination.

This season of The Amazing Race should have been called Incompetent Whiners, because there's sure a lot of both this season. Calling this season all-stars definitely gives the teams too much credit, but at least last night's episode--delayed by 20 minutes and thus cut off from my DVR because there was too much competition at 9 p.m. to record an extra hour or two--got rid of one of the more annoying teams. Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of The Amazing Race, Episode 5
Last week’s episode of The Amazing Race ended with seven teams continuing on in the Race after the Pit Stop, Zev and Justin still working on the final task, while Kent and Vyxsin tried to convince a speeding bus to turn around so they could look for their fannypack, which they left behind.
A lot of people have commented that they don’t like the “double legs” that we’ve been seeing so far this season. I actually like them, and think it’s a nice change to see the teams have to keep going without being able to rest. These teams have all done the Race before, and I’m all for making it as hard as possible for them this time around. However, if we end up seeing a double leg turn into a Non-Elimination leg, that will piss me off.

It's been a tough leg of 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' (Sun., 8Pm Et on CBS) for dating goth couple Kent and Vyxsin. Last week, they missed the only approved flight and then lost their passports. The flight snafu caused them to incur a 30-minute penalty at the next check-in.
Luckily, a train proved an equalizer and everyone caught back up. But with that penalty looming over them, the pair knew they had to consider the Double U-Turn coming up. And they had to deal with their bonehead move the last time they raced when they U-Turned a team that was ahead of them, rendering the move pointless.

Last week, The Amazing Race left us in suspense as Kent and Vyxsin were having the worst leg of the Race ever, and the other teams had checked in but were told they're still racing! They left their fanny pack (which is Everything) in the gondola! Everyone else is going back to Kunming, where a Double U-Turn awaits them.
Luckily for Kent and Vyxsin, the earliest train back to Kunming is at 7:00 pm so it will tie everyone up. In a touching moment, Phil checks the goths in, and tells them about their 30-minute penalty for missing the required flight. Haven't they been through enough, Phil?! Regardless, they're still in it, and will wait their penalty out at the next pit stop, and they have elected not to tell anyone about their penalty.

I pity the poor editor in charge of trying to inject a little suspense into Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. I mean, with Goth/Sims people Kent and Vyxsin misreading their compass, driving wildly off course, and missing a mandatory flight from Japan to China, they were at a five-and-a-half-hour deficit before a single task had been completed. “It really is a million-dollar question,” said Zev, wondering where his competitors had gone. “Either they’re on a kabuki show or super, super lost.” Kent and Vyxsin eventually made up a ton of ground — I’m...
