The Slamdance Film Festival announced today their narrative and documentary feature film competition for its 24th Festival edition, taking place January 19-25, 2018 in Park City. Established in 1995 by a group of filmmakers whose work had been rejected by the Sundance Film Festival, Slamdance is dedicated to fostering a community for independent emerging artists, fashioning itself “the premiere film festival by filmmakers, for filmmakers.”
The feature competition includes 16 premieres, mostly produced in the U.S. All competition films are feature length directorial debuts with budgets of less than $1 million Usd, and without Us distribution. In addition, the festival announced a new partnership with alumni Anthony and Joe Russo (“Captain America: Civil War,” and “Avengers: Infinity War”) to establish the inaugural Russo Fellowship award. Every participating filmmaker will be eligible for a $25,000 cash prize and mentorship from the Russos in the development of the winner’s next project at the brothers’ Los Angeles studio.

True Blood’s five seasons so far have all been very different to each other. From season one’s murder mystery, through season two’s twisted look at religious fundamentalism, season three’s gothic fairytale, season four’s hazy romance to season five’s slightly-different religious allegory, the show has so far reinvented itself every year. Some reinventions have been very successful, others less so.
True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris’ book series The Southern Vampire Mysteries, with each season roughly corresponding to one book. If True Blood Season Five could be easily summed up – and really, it can’t – the theme was about the consequences of one’s actions. Unlike the previous season, this one seemed determined to tidy things up and thin out the herd a bit. During the course of the season, Alan Ball let it be known this would be his final outing as showrunner and clearly, he was determined to be the one to say farewell to a few friends and foes. The season therefore zipped along at a wild, frenetic pace that saw more fangs, blood, and naked bodies than before.

When the wonderful Ms. Charlaine Harris sat down to scratch out the first lines of Dead Until Dark, the first of The Southern Vampire Mysteries that would go on to become the basis for HBO's series "True Blood," there's no way should could have known it was going to go on to become the mega-hit we know today.
However, that is exactly what happened. The book series is just now wrapping up after 13 novels, but "True Blood," the beloved television version of Sookie Stackhouse's adventures with all types of supernatural creatures, is still going strong. When we think back on the sizable cast of the show, we certainly remember some shocking death scenes. Although the show has had its share of peaks and valleys, it certainly never misses a chance to shock its loyal audience, and we recall some of those shocks in this look back at the Top 9 Most Shocking "True Blood" Death Scenes.

In what to me, as a veteran, has to be one of the most offensive things Ann Romney has ever said, she likened her husband and sons serving their Mormon missions to serving the country in the military. On The View, when asked if Mitt avoided Vietnam because his religion opposed it, she correctly stated that many Mormons serve their country, but "He was serving his mission." It is not the same, the sacrifice is not the same, and saying it is the same is one of the most self-serving and unpatriotic things I've ever heard. Your husband lived in a villa in Paris, not a foxhole with people shooting at him.

True Blood Preview: The Authority Put Their Plan Into Action
It doesn't look like it is safe to be human now on True Blood as the Vampire Authority has embraced the vision of Lilith and interpreted it to mean that they are free to drain whoever they want. There doesn't appear to be any objection within the authority, with only Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) showing disdain for the whole notion. Is this the beginning of the end for vampire/human peaceful co-existence?
After the exuberant feast in a bar in New Orleans the vampires return to the Authority headquarters still very much high on Lilith's blood and what they have just experienced. Eric questions what has just happened with Bill (Stephen Moyer) responding that they are in the presence of God, giving an early indication as to where Bill's allegiance may lie. Bill and Eric have always had a contentious relationship,...

This season of 'True Blood' makes me miss the Maenads. The build up between vampires and humans continues, as humans are rightfully wary of vampires' contrived efforts at trying to fit into polite society. They should be marginalized, based on all their bloodsucking actions thus far in this ridiculous Louisiana potboiler with six-pack abs and wolf packs. Bill and Eric are invited into the new bloodsucker club of Russell (Denis O'Hare), Salome and (S)Nora. True Blood Season 5 Photos: Watch Out For the Vampire Authority (Sneak Peek)
True Blood returns to screens June 10 on HBO and we have some promo photos that reveal new members to the ever expanding cast of vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters and fairies. We also have a sneak peek at a creepy Vampire Authority ritual as this higher power will take center stage in season 5.

HBO’s True Blood cast is getting younger! The American television series which was created and produced by Alan Ball has just cast the final member of True Blood’s highest vampire governing body, the Vampire Authority, or “The Authority” as it is so lovingly referred to by the vampires in Bon Temps.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that child actor Jacob Hopkins will join the True Blood cast playing the role of Alexander Drew, a Chancellor of the vampire governing body. Drew who is described as an impetuous vampire who likes to taunt those around him, was turned at the tender age of 9. I guess this is a vampire that Sookie won’t get to sleep with.

Time to get ready for outfits like this.
Welcome back to Celebrity Twitterwatch, where we tell you what happens with the .0001% that gets to show up on your television and movie screens. While they may also be part of the 1% we keep hearing about, they're generally aware of that and have manners about it.
We'll kick this off with an anatomy lesson, or in the case of hunk of beefcake Eddie McClintock, the off season start of his diet. While the rest of us are still eating leftover Halloween candy and thinking about Thanksgiving and holiday dinners and pie - so much pie - Eddie is beginning to think about us, the viewer, and getting in top shape for filming the new season of Warehouse 13, which will inevitably cause him to end up in outfits like the one above. We appreciate your sacrifice, Eddie.

Actress Lucy Griffiths (below) has earnt a role in the new season of popular HBO vamp show 'True Blood'. The cute 25-year old British actress who starred as Marian in the short-lived BBC show 'Robin Hood' will play Nora, the sister of Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard's character in the show) in the new fifth season. Nora is 'a centuries old vampire turned by Godric (Allan Hyde) and now working as a double agent within the Vampire Authority.' She is being described as 'an intelligent and intimidating force with a penchant for lying.' Those damn untrustworthy vampires. Season 5 of 'True Blood' will air on HBO from 24 June 2012...

Interesting news coming in for all you fangbangers out there. Sounds as if they're really looking to keep it in the family next season on "True Blood" as a sibling will be popping up that's guaranteed to stir up all kinds of trouble.
According to Bloody Disgusting one of the subplots will focus on "Nora", Eric's (Alexander Skarsgård) vampire "sister" born of Godric (Allan Hyde). While she loves Eric, she's also a double agent working for the Vampire Authority.
The big news, though, is that the next season will circle around Salome -- you know, The Salome from The Bible.
Salome's the daughter of Herodias and an icon of dangerous female seductiveness, for instance depicting as erotic her dance mentioned in the New Testament (in some later transformations further iconised to the dance of the seven veils), or concentrate on her lighthearted and cold foolishness that, according to the gospels,...

The moment that many True Blood fans have been waiting for happened this week as Sookie (Anna Paquin) finally succumbed to her urges regarding Eric (Alexander Skarsgård). This was aided by his new state of mind that has revealed a side of Eric that Sookie always thought was present below his hard exterior. Now Eric is feeling guilty for all that he has done in the past, even if he can't remember these terrible actions. A visit in a dream from his maker Godric (Allan Hyde) who he has no recollection of, prompted feelings of sorrow and guilt. It was this contrition that led to Sookie acting on these feelings and initiating a kiss. We have seen before that Sookie is sexually attracted to Eric not just from his blood infused dreams, but it was his harsh personality and her connection to Bill (Stephen Moyer) that have previously stood in the way.

Godric is returning to "True Blood" in the upcoming episode, but will not show his angelic side. While he has several times appeared after his true demise to prevent Eric from doing any harms, this time he will lure Eric into a big temptation, drinking Sookie's blood.
Meanwhile, Sookie keeps nurturing Eric who loses his mind, and Bill gets involved personally in the witch issue. Arlene and Terry decide to turn to religion to try and solve their baby problem, Jesus and Lafayette take a trip to Mexico to harness a shaman's power, while Jason spends time recovering from his recent injuries.
"Me and the Devil" will air Sunday, July 24 at 9 P.M. on HBO. Allan Hyde reprises his role as Eric's maker, Godric. Werewolf Alcide will also appear in the episode and get an unexpected visit from a guest whom he unfriendly welcomes.

There’s a new king in Bon Temps, and his name is Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). At the close of Season 3, Bill’s showdown with the Queen ended on a cliffhanger, but with nothing to lose it seems like Bill had everything to gain. Now, Bill has become the new local vampire politician, while his rival for Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) heart and fairy blood Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) has become the new “face” of vampire peace (yeah, right!). These three new clips from True Blood episode 4.2 give off some juicy teases as to what to expect in the next episode, “You Smell Like Dinner.” The first clip, featuring Eric and Sookie is a personal favorite. It shows that Eric, despite his seemingly altruistic intentions towards Sookie, has not changed one bit. He’s not going down the healing route of Godrick (Allan Hyde). It also looks like we’ll be...

I’ll assume you did actually watch series 3 but, like me, you’ve probably forgotten a lot of it. As final episodes go, ‘Evil is Going On’ was fairly short on spectacular dénouement but very heavy on loose ends to tie-up this year.
So, in no particular order:
Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) was pretty much in a holding pattern all last season, developing a relationship with Jesús (Kevin Alejandro) who, finally, confesses he is “a witch” which quite delights Lafayette….
Sam (Sam Trammell)’s back story has risen up and bitten him, meaning he has family matters to deal with that culminate with him shooting his brother, Tommy (Marshall Allman).
Jason (Ryan Kwanten)’s infatuation with Crystal the were-panther has resulted in him being left in charge of a clan of inbred hillbilly shape-shifters.

True Blood cast a spell on the crowd at PaleyFest 2011 this past weekend. Showrunner Alan Ball and sixteen cast members, including Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, and Alexander Skarsgard, gathered at the Saban Theatre for a panel discussion on what’s to come in season four of the hit HBO show. Here are the juicy highlights from panel:
Bye-bye Sookie and Bill: Sookie comes back different from her trip with Claudine. Bill’s betrayal of Sookie is so deep that she can’t forgive him right now. Alan Ball talks about Sookie and Bill:
“The betrayal is so deep that I don’t think she sees a way back from that. That’s why we need 17 seasons!”
A New Eric: As fans of the Sookie novels already know, Eric will lose his memory. Alexander Skarsgard explains what his character goes through:

Godric to return & more for 'True Blood' season 4. According to Michael Ausiello over at TV Line, the very powerful Godric vampire character will be making a return to HBO's hit show True Blood in season 4. Allan Hyde plays the Godric character, and Michael's sources have confirmed that he will indeed be reprising his cool role. However, there aren't many other details besides that. The timing and his episode duration are still unknown at this time. The details of how he will appear on the show, are also unknown. In season 2, he was killed off of his own volition by walking into the sun and burning to death,so I'm guessing it'll be another flashback or dream sequence unless he's resurrected or something.

One of the best characters in HBO’s True Blood who didn’t have enough screen time in previous seasons is coming back. You might remember that this particular character ended his undead life with the terrible dawn in season two, but Godric is not done yet.
Allan Hyde will be reprising his role as Godric, Eric’s maker and former Sheriff of Area 9 for season four.
How long his return will last is unknown at this point, but I for one am glad to see him back! Showrunner, Alan Ball would only say that we will be seeing “a different side of Godric.”

Say it isn't so, ok it's not so but it really is Truebies! According to TVLine a lot of peoples favorite vampire maker Godric aka Allan Hyde will return for True Blood's fourth season which will also include werewolves, witches and another familiar face or two. This should really make Eric happy! Head dog Alan Ball isn't giving up too much info either so we don't know if it'll be flash back city or if he comes back to help fight the new bad guys. We'll just have to wait and see.

That's the thing about television and films ... good characters rarely stay dead. They usually just evolve somehow and become something else. That's exactly the case with "True Blood" Season 4 as a very familiar face that we thought we had seen the last of is coming back!
According to TVLine Allan Hyde will reprise his role as Eric’s late, forever young-looking maker Godric when the HBO drama resumes this summer.
Even more interesting, "True Blood" executive producer Alan Ball told the site that fans will be seeing “a different side of Godric.” Very cool! Let's just hope the re-addition of this character doesn't get lost amongst the several thousand plot lines of last season. Time to get things back on track, fangbangers!

This can be filed under "What," but stranger things have happened in Bon Temps. Someone who we came to love on HBO's "True Blood," but left us in a fiery goodbye is returning.
TVLine reports that Allan Hyde, who played Godric, will return for Season 4.
Godric was Eric's (Alexander Skarsgard) maker, who felt his physical journey on earth was over and walked into the sun for a dramatic death. He reappeared in a vision to Eric in the Season 3 finale.
Creator and executive producer, Alan Ball, didn't tell the site what form we'd see the former vampire sheriff in when he returns, but did say that we'll see "a different side of Godric."
Is there life after the undead? If anyone knows, it would be the very Zen Godric.
What side of Godric do you think we'll meet in Season 4?...

Leading candidates are Canadian Stephen Amell, Brit Aiden Turner, and Australian Liam McIntyre. You can look over the goods and vote for your favorite here.

Why am I posting a pic of my #1 choice for the 2010 AfterElton Hot 100? Because this is a new pic of True Blood star Allan Hyde ... and he's gorgeous.
After a few days of intense media coverage, including by us, The Yankees Organization has promised GLAAD that they will address the "bleacher creatures" problem. Security will be beefed up, and anyone found taking part in the vile tradition will be booted out. We'll see.
