Boldness in Live TV Award: goes to The Biggest Loser winner Michael Ventrella, who lost 264 pounds and decided to show off his new body by wearing an amazing giant rhinestone-encrusted skull belt buckle during the live show. Honorable mention goes to host Allison Sweeney, who told one contestant that he was her favorite even though another contestant was standing right next to her.
Best Petty Revenge Award: goes to ABC, who are clearly still smarting about the fact that Lost's executive producers chose to end the show before it was in the ratings basement and decides to get back at it and its fans by inserting a bunch of pictures of the plane crash in the pilot in the closing credits, causing fans to think this was a clue that no one survived the plane crash after all. The network later admitted that it put the shots in as a...

Tuesday night the 31-year-old deejay from Chicago won the 'Biggest Loser' title and $250,000 in prize money after shedding 264 pounds, more than half his body weight. "At 526 pounds, nobody at that weight can ever feel any sense of hope," he said on the Today show Wednesday. "You feel like any day is your day, is your time: You're going to die." Before Michael, the heaviest 'Biggest Loser' contestant was Shay Sorrells, who weighed 476 pounds at the beginning of season 8. She ended the show weighing 304 pounds, then Subway made her an offer--$1,000 per additional pound she lost up to the season 9 finale. Shay has lost another 52 pounds and now weighs 252 (see pics here) and has pocketed $52,000. "No one has...

"The Biggest Loser" winner Michael Ventrella began the season as the heaviest-ever contestant at 526 pounds, and lost a record-breaking 264 pounds to capture the $250,000 prize. His final weight was 262 pounds, which means he lost 50.19% of his body weight. "Being at 526, you have no hope for a future. I knew that I was going to give it my all. I knew I would be relentless at my efforts, but I have surpassed my wildest dreams," he says. When Michael's time at the ranch came to an end, he still weighed in the 300s and was discouraged because, despite his great success, he was leaving the ranch at a weight that other people start at. But he didn't let it get him down. "I thought the biggest challenge when I went home would be fitting in my workout regimen," he says. "It wasn't that. The biggest challenge was having everybody understand what I am going through.

It seems impossible to believe, but it's true:
Michael Ventrella weighed in for season nine of The Biggest Loser at 526 pounds. He weighed out on last night's finale at 262!

“I thought there was a glitch in the matrix! I thought, ‘What is wrong with the monitor?’ I can’t believe this. I just proved no matter what it is, possibility or not, it can happen.”

For his determination to be fit and healthier, Michael Ventrella has been declared the winner of "The Biggest Loser" season 9. The 30-year-old DJ from Chicago, Illinois was literally the biggest and heaviest man in the camp but he managed to downsize his weight from 526 pounds to 262 pounds. That would be a drop of 50.19% of his body weight.
As the champion, Ventrella is awarded $250,000 prize. "I am feeling proud of myself-which is a new feeling," he said upon winning. "This time I gave it my all. I did it the right way and it worked." He started the competition accompanied by his mother Maria who was eliminated in week 3.
Coming in second place was Ashley Johnston who lost 48.93% of her Body Mass Index (Bmi), narrowly followed by Daris George who lost 48.55%. Koli Palu who was also in the final was eliminated early but he received $100,000 for winning the At-Home prize. He...

Who win 'The Biggest Loser?' I've said it before and I'll say it again, producers can make a reality show out of just about anything, am I right? We've seen shows about designing cakes, cutting hair and of course "The Biggest Loser" had contestants attempting to lose as much weight as possible. It's really not a bad concept, particularly since the contestants have something incredible to gain (or more like lose in this situation).
In any case, tonight marked the season finale for the 2010 season of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" and needless to say, I wish I could win $250,000 for shedding pounds. Of course, you guys don't care about my losing weight, right? What you guys are dying to know is who lost the most weight on tonight's finale. So, without further ado, the winner of tonight's episode of "The Biggest Loser" was...drum roll please...Michael Ventrella...

The winner of NBC's "The Biggest Loser: Couples" was decided on Tuesday night. Michael Ventrella, who, at a starting weight of 526 pounds was the heaviest "Biggest Loser" contestant ever, took home the $250,000 prize after he lost 264 pounds -- over 50% of his starting body weight! Michael, who was the first contestant ever to lose 200 pounds during his time on campus, brought a flower for his "No. 1 motivation and inspiration," his mom Maria, who also competed this season. Earlier in the evening, the fans had to choose between Daris George and Koli Palu to determine which would make it into the top three. The fans chose Daris, but Koli triumphed in another contest -- he won the $100,000 at-home prize. Of the final three, Daris took third place with a total weight loss of 168 pounds (48.55% of his starting weight), while Ashley Johnston came in second with a total weight loss of 183 pounds (48.93% of...

But who should get the third spot? It’s your choice, America —I simply can’t decide who deserves it more, Daris or Koli!
I’ve been a die-hard fan of The Biggest Loser since the show first premiered in 2004, but this is the first time my favorite two contestants have ever made it to the finals and I’m ecstatic! The only problem? When it comes to the third and final spot — which America chooses, incidentally — I can’t decide who I’m voting for! I’m totally torn between Koli and Daris!
Ashley Johnston, a 27-year-old spa manager, and 30-year-old DJ Michael Ventrella were the biggest boy and girl in NBC’s Biggest Loser history. They’ve worked their butts off to drop an obscene amount of weight (Ashley lost 161 pounds; Mike lost a whopping 227 pounds), so it’s fab they’ve made it to the finals.

Tuesday night, "The Biggest Loser" announced the final four: Ashley Johnston, Daris George, Koli Palu and Michael Ventrella, which meant that 24-year-old SunShine Hampton lost her spot on the ranch when she fell below the red line and was immediately sent packing. Sam Poueu is the first "The Biggest Loser" player to reach his goal weight on the ranch, so Tuesday night when he only lost two pounds, it wasn't a surprise. He has been in the bottom two before because he has so little weight left to lose, but previously, he was saved. When the vote was tallied on Tuesday's episode, two players voted to send Sam home; two voted to send home Michael Ventrella. "The Biggest Loser" rules state that when there is a tie, the player with the lowest percentage of weight loss goes home and that was Sam. "I was surprised," he says. "I thought, 'We are at six right now. Only four compete for the grand prize. If Mike makes it into the final four, he has a huge chance of winning the entire thing. You think of past contestants winning at 50 percent or more of total body weight lost.

After two weeks of losing at the weigh-ins, the black team was victorious on Tuesday night's "The Biggest Loser," meaning that the blue team had to send someone home. That person turned out to be Lance Morgan, who was voted out by his teammates, despite not being the team member with the lowest percentage of weight loss. That was Daris George. "A lot of it is who you like and who you get along with," admits Lance, who voted for Michael Ventrella. "It is not necessarily an alliance, but, for me, Daris is like a brother to me, so I couldn't vote for Daris." Lance, who is down 105 pounds from his starting weight of 365 pounds, also felt that way about O'Neal and Sunshine Hampton, but the feeling wasn't exactly mutual. Will you be tuning in Jan. 5 to watch couples fight the battle of the bulge?
It seems like we just watched Danny Cahill become The Biggest Loser after losing 239 pounds, but it’s already time to be inspired by another group of heavyweights.
Season nine of the hit NBC reality show is all about pairs, as the heaviest couples the show has ever seen compete to lose it all on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
30-year-old Michael Ventrella—a deejay from Chicago, Ill.—is literally the show’s biggest contestant ever, topping the scales at more than 520 pounds; he’ll be competing with his 51-year-old mom, Maria.
Also, looking to drop significant poundage are Orlando-based brothers James and John Crutchfield, 30, who call themselves “the half-ton twins” because they weigh nearly 500 pounds each.
In typical Biggest Loser fashion, the preview gave us chills watching these people re-build their lives and got us all choked up.
