Felicity Huffman has been in the news a lot over the last year or so, and not for her acting. There’s no need to get into the scandal she was involved in, since it has no bearing on her work here. However, it never hurts to have a showy performance to refocus audiences on your skills. At times, the drama Tammy’s Always Dying showcases Huffman at her best. For Catherine MacDonald (Anastasia Phillips) and her hard drinking/self destructive mother Tammy MacDonald (Huffman), the same routine...

"Just to be clear - this is a one time arrangement. Never again." Stx Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for an action comedy movie titled My Spy, yet another campy Hollywood comedy about a spy who befriends a kid. From director Peter Segal, the story follows a CIA operative who finds himself at the mercy of a precocious nine-year-old girl. The charming, lovable buff badass Dave Bautista stars, along with Chloe Coleman (from "Big Little Lies") as Sophie, plus Ken Jeong, Kristen Schaal, Nicola Correia-Damude, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Sima Fisher, Laura Cilevitz, and Ali Hassan. This looks like one of those super cheesy, but kinda fun comedies involving an adult teaming up with a kid to save his butt, while saving her from bullies. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Peter Segal's My Spy, direct from Stx's YouTube: My Spy follows Jj, a hardened CIA operative...

"Your grandmother was convinced it had magical powers. She should've brought her to me." Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a charming, cute new holiday romance film titled The Holiday Calendar, formerly known as Christmas Calendar until Netflix realized it would play better without specifically saying "Christmas". The film stars Kat Graham as Abby Sutton, a talented but struggling photographer who inherits an antique advent calendar that may be predicting the future -- and pointing her toward love. Of course. The film also stars Quincy Brown, Ron Cephas Jones, Genelle Williams, Laura de Carteret, Ali Hassan, Romaine Waite, plus Ethan Peck. This looks extra cheesy and almost too sweet and not at all like something any cinephiles will watch. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Bradley Walsh's The Holiday Calendar, direct from YouTube: A struggling but talented photographer (Kat Graham) stuck in a dead-end job inherits an...

Sometimes it pains me to say when a film is an unwatchable mess. Films like French Immersion, the directorial debut of Quebec-based producer Kevin Tierney (Bon Cop, Bad Cop, The Trotsky, Good Neighbours), has an incredible amount of talent in front of the camera and behind it. It is supposed to be a comedy about the differences between English and French speaking Canada, but instead it’s a soul-sucking train wreck full of punchlines so misguided they would make Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy think twice. Sickeningly unfunny and dreadfully “Canadian,” Tierney’s film strikes out on almost every conceivable level.
There’s enough plot and quirky characters in French Immersion to sustain a year’s worth of television pilots, but Tierney tries to pack every half baked idea he has into a single film. The film deals with five English speakers forced to enter into an intense...

Meet the Speedy Singhs
Writer and actor Vinay Virmani wasn’t nervous at all during the filming of his feature debut Breakaway a film about an all-Sikh ice hockey team trying to make a name for themselves. Despite the presence of some heavy hitting Hollywood and Bollywood regulars on set, Virmani said he didn’t have time to be nervous.
“I’ll tell you something, a lot of people ask me if I was nervous working with Rob Lowe and Russell Peters and Anupam Kher, who is a living legend in Bollywood and now all around the world, and I say no,” insisted Virmani. “And that’s just being cocky because there’s no time to be nervous on a movie set. As a young actor, you gotta have your homework done. I had my rehearsals done and my workshops done with my director, I knew my lines, I knew my character,...
