Had his own shotgun at 12 years old, during which time he also fired his first 44 magnum (the same gun Clint Eastwood uses in Dirty Harry). At the same age, he shot his first animal during a hunting expedition with his father- a rabbit, at which point he became very upset after seeing the animal suffer. That day he refused to ever hunt again and never did (although he still enjoys target shooting). Years later, he became a vegetarian after viewing a documentary film on a slaughterhouse, seeing how farm animals suffer before and when they are killed for food, and has been a vegetarian ever since.
