Kate King Lynch
- Writer
Kate King Lynch was born in the Bronx, New York. She grew up in a
family of stagehands, carpenters and behind the scenes workers at
Broadway, Lincoln Center and Madison Square Garden. This instilled the
beauty of story and the hard work that goes into it. A bookworm from
her earliest years, Kate read voraciously all through her school years.
This translated into poetry and short stories during her teen years.
Upon entering the University of Central Florida, Kate began taking
screen writing classes and wrote her first screenplay at twenty. It
wasn't until a trip to Thailand, doing a documentary on child sex
trafficking, that she fully realized the importance of mainstream film.
She graduated from UCF with a degree in Political Science and Criminal
Profiling, just as her writing career took off: she optioned "Renee," a
script based on a true story reflecting the current generation's
escapism into drugs and music. The screenplay's gritty dialogue and
fanciful visuals immediately attracted Hollywood talent and eventually
went into production. 'Renee' completed its principal photography in
March 2011. Shortly after, Kate was hired to pen the screenplay for
'Jealous gods'. A contemporary Southern drama, 'Jealous gods' is the
true story of a dying woman's desire for her father and his gay lover
to adopt her four mixed-raced children.
